    Half-Yearly Reports

We receive our half-yearly reports, which include accumulated course marks so far and ranks, this week. Gah. Anyone want to share their report if they already have it? yeah. that is all

    choosing subjects for Year 11

As a seasoned Year 12 student, I must stress the following point to you Year 10's, CHOOSE SUBJECTS THAT YOU ARE GOOD AT, NOT WHAT YOU THINK WILL SCALE WELL. Because if you achieve well in something, your mark and UAI will reflect that and scaling will not pull you down. Good luck!

    History Extension Half-Yearly Exam

good mark! I have read Curthoys & Docker's Is History Fiction? but unfortunately we did not get it as the source for Section 1. We got this Australian teacher ranting about the purposes of history. And the essay question was like "Evaluate the aims and purposes of history"... Used the source...

    Social Sciences or Applied Sciences?

hahaha. by the way, thread creator (I forget your username), I shall put in my two cents: Applied sciences and social sciences are equally relevant to the study of society/sociology. Applied sciences have created social change, through changes in economic modes of production etcetera, and are...

How am i going (marks included) ?

They are great marks & ranks. Your school is insanely small - 40 people in the year? Mine has 200. Is your school competitive? I think you're well on track to achieving 85-90. Especially with marks like those in Chemistry & Economics. And good decision in dropping maths haha, well justified :)...

    Writing Modern History Essays

Using historiography is good, but you can achieve Band 6 without it. Many people at my school have. But i do agree that it adds a little sophistication and strength to a normal modern essay.

how many people are doing history extension in your school?

haha that would be strange. So it's just you & the teacher? Or do you study it distance-ed?

how many people are doing history extension in your school?

We started the course with 28. It was insane! We have since dropped to 19.

Always run out of time in exams? Yeah...

I agree with much of what you (livexxx) have said. I too am a perfectionistic English & History Ext student, who struggles with time because they know too much content. But we have to learn ways to use time effectively. Tips: 1: As much as we would like to churn out perfect essays in a...

    UAI confusion

Just what are you calling 'relaxing'? I don't do Textiles or CAFS or any of those subjects you mentioned but I think as much work would go into achieving an excellent mark in those, with major projects and all, as in the 'hardcore' subjects of 4u math etc. Just because someone doesn't do...

    Peter Heath in Coffs Harbour

Yeah, that's true. It would take heaps of pressure off. Ours are due in late July I think. Along with my other major work in the same week. It's going to be a fun month.

    Half Yearly Exams

Re: Half Yearly Results ONLY (No Spam) You all have received your results back already? Insanity! We won't get ours back until next term, i.e. a month after the exams have been completed! That's probably due to the size of our year (200) but I still wish I had them back so I won't stress...

hsc mode - is it all it was made out to be?

People generally get more upset about results, but don't necessarily buckle down I guess. Parties are still happening and all. Studying will probably intensify as the year progresses.

I feel sorry for the HSC students at this school.

That would be awful to have to suddenly pack up & go to another school in the middle of your HSC.
