    Section I: Multiple Choice

Post up your multiple choice answers here. The supervisors didn't let me take the paper (AGAIN!). All I remember was, there was like 4 D's in a row! And first one was A. lol For that one with the picture of the waterway going thru town etc, I got A, because the TDS would be high around...

    Thoughts?

These are some calculation answers that I got, that I can remember. Can someone compare/clarfiy? The average mass of zinc in tablets - 0.16mg Titration question, [HCl] = 1.057 mol/L The identitfy of gas = H2(g) Highest energy released by: Hydrogen gas fuel Amount of energy released...

    Thoughts?

I reckon that's probably one of the easiest Chem papers in many years... I can (not boasting) say that I killed it... very straightforward paper IMO (with some small exceptions). WOOOOOOOOOOT THIS FUCKER'S FINISHED HIS HSC!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

    Question Chain Thread !!!

Not sure about this one, is it in the syllabus? Well since cracking of alkanes.. this would require high temperatures, ahhh I remember, also requires a high surface catalyst, such as Al2O3 and a cat-cracking column.

    Question Chain Thread !!!

Sounds good ;) We didn't really do any working, we just compared the pH of the solution to a pH colour chart (we used universal indicator), and the pH was 5.5-6.5. As a control, for validity purposes, we simply had a solution of distilled water, which was pH7 (ie no independent variable...

    Question Chain Thread !!!

Anhydrous sodium carbonate is one of the most appropriate primary standard solid to use in a titration (others include Oxalic Acid, Potassium Hydrogen Phthalate). - It has a high molar mass, thus any minute errors in mass measurements will not lead to great discrepancies/inaccuracies in final...

    Question Chain Thread !!!

Acidic. Ammonium ion is a moderately weak conjugate acid of ammonia, which in solution donates a proton to water molecules, forming H3O+, and thus, an acidic solution. NH4Cl ---> NH4+(aq) + Cl-(aq) NH4+(aq) + H2O(l) <--> NH3(aq) + H3O+(aq) (Chlorine is a spectator ion).

    Question Chain Thread !!!

HCFCS (Hydrochlorofluorocarbons) were temporary replacements for CFCs, after the 1987 Montreal Protocol declared that concentration of CFCs should be cut by 50% by the year 2000, and by 1996 for all emissions of CFCs to cease. HCFCs contain C-H bond(s) which can react with -OH radicals in the...

    Hsc 2008 Accurate Question Predictions

haha thanks for the compliment, but I'm not that good. Well, that dot-point has NEVER been asked before, and it tests alot. You would notice that there are quite a few dot points that involve modelling certain chemical processes - its a skills area of the course. So it could be in there...

    Question Chain Thread !!!

The way I learnt measurement was done (but I think it's wrong) was... A column of air sample is taken, and then light of wavelength in the UV area (290-320nm) is passed through the air column, and detectors at the opposite end of the column detect how much UV has been absorbed, proportional to...

Help Me Out Please - Assessment Task 1

Good polymers to choose are Biopol (PHB), Cyclodextrin. To tabulte the info, just basically have one row for each criteria/feature. Label each row according to the feature you are outlining. Pretty simple IMO.

    holidaying after the HSC

I've always wanted to go to Japan.. but I doubt there'll be anyone who wants to go with me. I'm probably going to Melb in january for the Australian Open. Probably gonna go somewhere along NSW Coast for an Xmas holiday with cousins and stuff.
