While I disagree that the Coalition can't win, I think that they're very unlikely to. Their campaign seems to be in neutral, they're running scare ads that are getting so overwrought they're almost ridiculous and they can't get a coherent line on inflation and interest rates (witness Minchin...
"While completing her doctorate under the supervision of Associate Professor Rod Tiffen, Shelly has lectured in Australian Politics and Power in Society, and tutored in Media & Politics, Policy Analysis and Australian Politics."
But Power in Society isn't running next year, so you're out of luck.
Do history, most of their junior units are pretty solid. But unless you're planning to go onto senior level, avoid government and international relations like the plague.
Here's the ad. It isn't very heavy on Costello, but it makes the point, among various education, climate change, interest rate messages, that a vote for John Howard is a vote for smirky.
Looks like I'll have a three-day week in semester 1, awesome. I'll have to think about where I want to fit my tutes in, though. Screw GOVT and its two-hour lectures.
What history course are you doing, veridis?

Labor's HTV cards for each electorate are available here. Can't find anything equivalent on the Liberal site.
Edit: in my electorate they've put the CDP 5th out of 8, which is way higher than they deserve. Not that it matters at all, but still.
Prima facie, I assume he's talking about specifics and details, as in to be a successful historian you must be interested in details. That would seem to fit Ranke's general approach to history. But I could be wrong.
Sounds like Vassili is trying to campaign on issues which are actually constitutionally granted to the commonwealth government, which I think is admirable. You can be assured that the only reason that liberal candidates are going so much on 'roads!' and 'security cameras!' and 'schools!' and...
HSTY1088 was pretty good today, even if I had to powerwalk halfway across campus to get to the room on time. (Fuck you, Storie Dixson.) Hopefully that'll keep me in the HD band and I might just be able to scrape into law. Unlikely, though.
Re: Subject Reviews - UPDATED WITH .PDF on first post
She may well be, a lot of ancient history lecturers do that sort of thing. Kathryn's not running the junior course next year though, Jeffrey Tatum will be doing it instead.
Labor takes the fight to the Coalition on interest rates and economic management. The parties seem to be upping their ad spend at the moment, I watched Seven News (ugh) a couple of days ago and there were five political ads in 30 minutes. (It was a 4-1 ALP-Coalition split, if anyone's interested.)
