    But what do you mean by "an isolated or closed system"?

    What is Momentum? - Explanation Needed.

    uh.. is there a more simple way to put it?

    What is Momentum? - Explanation Needed.

    Oh okay, I tried the search function and it came up with all these random results. So basically, momentum is the energy gained from movement, and when there is a situation of conservation of momentum, the sum of momenta = 0?

    What is Momentum? - Explanation Needed.

    I've must of searched every single physics textbook there is - whether the Jacaranda, Macmillian, Physics in Context, Excel, Macquarie.. and they all say the same thing about momentum. "Momentum is the product of the mass and velocity of an object. It is given by the formula p = mv" blah blah...

    G - forces - Help Needed

    okay, ive got the answer :D ...well i THINK i got the answer.. anyway =P First of all, we know that in order to achieve an escape velocity.. large accelerations need to be achieved right?? These accelerations create forces upon an astronaut.. which are known as g-forces. And we know that...

    G - forces - Help Needed

    Ohhhh I remember this formula now.. yeh, my teacher said that its a good one to further your understanding - but its not required in the syllabus

    G - forces - Help Needed

    Hm.. I'm not sure if ive grasped the concept, but can somebody please clarify my understanding of g-forces through this attachment? Thanks in advice. Well I haven't really answered part two of the question, but according to the surfing physics sheet on g-forces, "it is often easier to just...

    Where did you get that formula from?

    escape velocity

    im not too sure on 1. but for 2, it really depends, if the mass of the planet is of a greater proportion than the radius, than the escape velocity would increase. If it was the same proportion, it should increase, but don't take my word on that.

    G - forces - Help Needed

    Yes, I understood that concept, but i was wanting to know how that relates to the formula... the formula clearly reveals that mass, displacement and time is independent. The only dependent variables are the acceleration due to gravity and the acceleration of the object. That is where I am...

    G - forces - Help Needed

    I kinda understand the concept of g-forces... but its just the formula which is putting me off... I understand, that g-forces = apparent weight / true weight apparent weight = mg + ma true weight = mg therefore g-forces = (g + a) / g where g = acceleration due to gravity and a...

    Vacuum = Medium?

    so a vacuum is not classified as a medium? but my physics teacher said it was.. so im kinda confused >_>

    Vacuum = Medium?

    yea i kinda know that.. but when isaac newton stated that space was a vacuum since u couldnt hear any sounds from the sun.. why was it believed that light could not travel through a vacuum?... isnt that how the aether theory started.. they thought there must of been some sort of medium allowing...

    Vacuum = Medium?

    Is a vacuum classified as a medium?.. cauz im like totally lost about this Aether stuff.. if it isnt a medium, then it all makes sense..

    Question about Current Account / Capital and Financial Account

    so you're trying to say is that our exports exceeds our imports, and so, we our short fall will equal to the money we borrow?.. consider this example.. if I was to owe a friend 100 dollars... and i only have 90 dollars.. i will turn to the bank to get that remaining 10 dollars right...

    Question about Current Account / Capital and Financial Account

    I understand that the current account + capital and financial account = 0 .. but the one thing I'm not understanding is why? Can someone please explain why the current account balances the capital and financial account? Thank you in advance =)
