    differentiation

    double post, but who cares, these forums are like private ones. C = 3 + V³/900 total cost = (3 + V³/900)h, for number of hours h since h = 450/V total cost = (3 + V³/900)*450/V = 1350/V + V^2/2 differentiating, dc/dv = -1350/V^2 + V let this = 0. therefore V = 1350/V^2 V^3 = 1350, V...

Important word definitions for 4u math.

monic - coefficient of leading power is 1 even - p(x) = p(-x). the result of this is that all the coefficients of terms with odd powers are zero. a big clue when doing relationships between roots and coefficients.

    differentiation

    first, the formula for cost, C, per hour is 3 + kV³, for some number k. therefore, C = 3 + kV³ for one hour. subsituting C = 6.75 and V for 15, 6.75 = 3 + k15³ 4.75 = 3375k k=19/13500 therefore, C = 3 + 19V³/13500 # the second part is a bit more complicated. total cost, c, = (3 +...

thank you yip!! only, in the first question, it asks you to show that mx³ - 3x² + 1 = 0 has a double root, not assume it. any ideas? and how did you work out the method to do the second question? i mean, what you did is obviously right, but how would you know this was the way to do it before...

    cssa 2005

thanks trebla. i say it's tricky because i've done with no queries every other cssa paper in the 2 topics i'm being tested on in the upcoming exams, polynomials and conics. for this paper: q1, b, (ii) "the line y=mx is a tangent to the curve y = 3 - 1/x². Show that the equation mx³ - 3x² + 1...

    PHB formula??

sorry, typo, but you know what i mean. the structure formula may still come up in multiple choice though, esp. in dodgy school trials.

    Uai

aren't general maths and standard english both capped at around 92 or 93?? that means you can't get 100 uai if you do both of those esp if you do other capped subjects. but yeah i agree, subject selection shouldn't be based on capping or scaling, but rather what you're good at, enjoy doing...

    1/Z2 = 1/r2 * cis (-B) therefore, Z1.1/Z2 = r1/r2 * (cosA+isinA)(cosB-isinB) =r1/r2 * (cosAcosB - sinBcosAi + cosAsinBi + sinAsinB) =r1/r2 * [cos(A-B) - (sinBcosAi - cosAsinBi)] =r1/r2 * [cos(A-B) - isin(A-B)]

    A question on motion

hmm, well this is my reasoning: 1. suppose it before the acceleration was applied, the object was stationary. now apply a force to the right. it will accelerate to the right, and thus move to the right. 2. suppose a meteor is moving left, suddenly a large mass appears on its right. the gravity...

did you ever mention you were a pianist in that post? anyway, the Italian Concerto is a lot of work, and very difficult. i mean, it's not technically that demanding but it's very long and that kind of music has no room for variation in tempo, so you're looking at a very long period of...
