If total free market was the best outcome, we would not even need economics to give us answers in the macro sense.
The fact is that there are just as many aspects of economics that "disagrees" (strange word to use tbh) with the right. A few of them include total utility, market failure...
I understand your logic but fees are not the main source of income for universities. A shift towards HECS only will also be subsidised by the government and allow universities to attract more private investment given its increased focus on academic merit. The full fee argument only has merit on...
My view is the exact opposite. Nobody makes a choice to do anything. There's no such thing as choice. Everyone is in their situation due to complicated sequences of events both occurring externally and internally which, at any stage, compelled them to specific actions. People are merely...
Did the test again...
Economic Left/Right: -8.38

I'm irrationally prejudiced against money handlers and the likes.
What about all the good things the central government has done for the once backwards autonomous region? - the building of infrastructure, investment in science and research, upholding fundamental human rights by liberating its people from a theocracy. What about the recent completion of the 青藏...
Bshoc didn't you state at some stage that you supported Labor? I was of the impression that you aligned yourself with both the "old left" and reactionary values of National Socialism... was I right?
I think you have a very liberal definition of the word "choice". People can only chose to move into a situation if it is economically and socially viable to do so, with regard to circumstances such as family and community.
I think the "I don't want anyone to pay for the activities of others" mentality is generally stronger than that of "I want to leech off others" when it comes to students. The rise in prominence of such an attitude is neither good or bad per se, but does correspond with the trend I outlined...
I think the thread-starter raised an interesting point to be honest, although somewhat misconstrued in its representation of today's situation.
Perhaps it is more accurate (albeit simplistic) to say that youth of today care more about themselves than others. That would explain the shift...
After people realise that we've moved too far to the right the youth of the day will once again adopt a proactive left-wing stance.
History is driven by moves to the extremes. That is why it always overshoots equilibrium.
To be honest I have not lost any friends to suicide, but as I understand those who commit suicide tend to be the most philosophical about life. In my opinion that is the most tragic thing about suicide. Ordinary people tend not to be susceptable to suicide as they are too stupid to even consider...
Obviously this is tragic for her family and friends.
But those who die young will always leave behind an enigmatic aura.
May she rest in peace and in eternal youth.
The issue is whether flag burning should be illegalised, not whether stealing should be a crime.
If you did not understand the term "multiculturalism", you could have looked it up for the sake of the discussion.
I can understand that you're only sitting for the HSC this year but one is...
That is definately an absurd comparison. The a head cleric does not speak on behalf of all muslims, because the "muslim community" is neither institutional nor hierarchical in nature, unlike the examples pollifax mentioned.
The fact that one holds an opinion that is in line with the majority isn't something to be proud of anyway. Most people are stupid, ignorant or apathetic. The height of Australian(ness) isn't reached by sharing views with the "average" Australian but by contributing greatly to Australian...
That is irrelevant given that individually, your thought has little to no effect on whether any of those incidents would take place. The fact is that if more people thought like you, there would be more of the incidents as antagonism among ethnic groups would merely increase, not decrease.
