Congrats, that's a brilliant score. It should score you a UNSW interview if your predicted ATAR is anything in the vicinity of 97ish I think. I imagine it'll net you interviews with WSU and the JMP as well, even with their modifications.
Hmm, from the interviewers that I have spoken to, you have two interviewers, once you're done with the interview you go outside and they deliberate and they must agree on a single mark to give you based on how well you've done.
That's the reason why there are usually one or two people who have...
Correctamundo. But to be clear just in case anyone misreads this, the 150 isn't a hurdle, it's not like everyone with >150 is on equal footing. The higher your UMAT and predicted ATAR, the more likely you are to get an interview.
I'm not too sure about optom cutoffs so I won't comment, but if it isn't enough a gap year isn't altogether necessary. Especially for UNSW optom, there is the Vision Science pathway that lets you direct transfer into optom, which I heard isn't altogether difficult to do if you give it a decent...
Agreed, so many people don't make it on their first go, but there are so many options to try again.
Congrats to everyone on your efforts, I think we all know how gruelling UMAT can be.
Also a lot of you have done amazing, I hope y'all do well if you get interviews! :D
Dw, the application isn't actually used in grading for most universities. Either way, the most important thing is that it honestly portrays why you want to get into medicine.
Not to state the obvious, but I feel like it might be apt as the results are coming soon.
If you feel like you've honestly given the UMAT your best shot, then you should already be proud of yourself regardless of mark. Your best is your best, so don't understate yourself. I know it's very easy...

I was actually surprised to read this the other day, because if I interpret it correctly if you get a GPA over 5 then that meets the cutoff for USYD and then it's not used to rank you...
It really depends. I know people who did prep that helped them, people that did prep and still absolutely flunked it, people who did no prep amf flunked and people who did no prep and killed it. So it depends - do you feel like you need prep? If so, then it might be worth it to do some. Quite...
You can definitely sit the UMAT next year if you want to, but bear in mind universities will use your ATAR and GPA as well for academic cutoffs, and different unis will do this in different ways. You can check the course handbooks to see how different universities do this.
Been a while since...
Yeah, pretty much this.
It's worth noting that radiology is a medical specialty, i.e. you need a medicine degree and internship, then you can specialise in radiology with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists. The medicine degree part of that path can be done at UNSW...
While I wouldn't recommend using it in HSC working out, using L'Hopital's rule could be useful to check your answer in questions like this, just to make sure it's right. Look it up if you haven't heard of it.
Then why wouldn't you just privately help two of the people that have asked you, rather than make people publicly compete for your attention? Not trying to understate the fact that you're taking out your own time to do a nice thing for others, but there's enough competition going on with...
