Don't be like that guy at Baulkham Hills two years ago who kicked a chair and punched the wall because he only got 119/120 in his 4u trial, or whatever it was. But seriously, if you drop from 1st to 5th or 6th because of one or two marks in an exam...

If you like complicated maths, take higher level maths. You're not going to get anything complicated maths wise in any other HSC subject... other than maths.

tan(a+b) and other compound angle formulae are 3u and above only.

Compound angles are a 3u topic, though.

The theory develops logical thinking skills, analytic thinking skills, quantitative thinking skills. There's a reason that when people ask for quantitative skills - they ask for Maths majors, and interestingly Physics and Engineering majors as well sometimes...
