Question: When they say 'third carriage', does that mean third from the front, or third from the back? If you say '3rd carriage' to me - I think third from the front. But I have a friend who maintains it means third from the back.

I went through the UAC guide and put a tick or cross next to things I was somewhat interested in doing. In the end I had about 10 to pick from, culled one and then BAM! 9 uac preferences right then and there (sure i did a bit of fudging to order them, but still) True story.

Well, if people copy others in an exam or something - then it's cheating. The only way this could even possibly have an advantage is in assignments where people may contact you for help. But even then, you're not obliged to...?

Rule pages? lolwat I used to use grid books because they were mandatory in Year 7 at my school. Now at uni, I just use normal booklets. If I want it to be neat, get those books with the already margin-ed pages. And then for rough working I have a book without those margins so I can scribble...
