Rewards from parents for good marks

This. Tbh I never really got why parents give rewards for doing well.

    Which schools got 99.95's?

Nah its not. Back in the old days, there were only around 22 100's, and then around 45 of the rest. This is because the way they calculated it was that you got 100 UAI if you were above the 99.975th percentile, 99.95 if you were between the 99.925-99.975th percentile etc. So within every 0.05th...

Results Check / Raw Marks / Exam Responses

Yeah no worries- though I don't think you'll find THAT much difference tbh... just more consistency and precision in expression

Sooo sorry for late reply. Anyway, we were tested on: MX2 -> All of complex, ellipses from conics and there was one question on implicit differentiation MX1 -> Integration (including substitution, volumes, Simpson's rule etc), trig (solving equations, differentiation etc.), graphing (using...

Does the school you go to really matter?

I agree that the student is the main determinant of their own ATAR but I also strongly believe I would not have gotten the ATAR I did at a comprehensive school. Reasons for this are 1. At a selective school, there are others of a similar ability to you. We could help each other, share notes and...

Results Check / Raw Marks / Exam Responses

Yeah same- that would be heaps cool. I'll ask one of my friends who got a high state rank in chem to get his paper. Though I read his trial and compared it to mine and its exactly what you said. His 6/6 answers are the same as my 6/6 answers etc. -> the point is that he just is more consistent...

Results Check / Raw Marks / Exam Responses

Check to make sure the markers marked every question, things were entered into the computer correctly (i.e. if a marker gave you 16/20, that it wasn't entered as 15/20) etc. It ISN'T a remark at all. And is anyone here buying back their exam responses? I'll probs get mine for phys, chem, eco...

2013 TSFX Year 11 Summer School: Preliminary Head Start Lectures

My view- its year 11- stuff it. Year 12 you might get something out of it but honestly, what's the advantage in being a few weeks ahead of others in year 11?

ATAR 'devalued by use of bonus point schemes'

My two cents: I am very against the 5 bonus points for AAA scholarship because the difference between a 94.7 and a 99.7 ATAR for law is absolutely ridiculously. I agree with elite athlete/performers points but not for year 11 (like for me personally- I qualified for sport stuff in year 11 and...

Who thinks or knows someone who's got 99.95 in the bag??

Actually state ranks can influence ATAR's quite a but because the scaling algorithm isn't linear-> i.e. a 98 in chem is a big jump in terms of scaled marks from 97.
