Oh soz haha- forgot to reply to your previous one. State ranks come out in the arvo after HSC results so you can sorta predict if you got one by looking at the marks. And why do you need practising scientists for phys? I thought the only thing we needed was just one for chem with that BS...

Yeah something like that. Idk, I want 96 for chem but we'll see i guess- it all depends on the day I guess. Your goal is to beat me- I want to see you in SMH on state rank list :p Good luck bro

How's the phys/chem going brah? Hope its good. And I've been going over chem today- it legit isn't that hard. Even if they mark like savages, I still can't see myself dropping 20 marks say so idk what everyone's on about tbh

    How to study?

You probably won't get much out of this post because I never had a study timetable or followed any of the rules that 'study theory' says you should do- I'm just making this post to show that you don't need to neccessarily do everything exactly the way your teachers tell you- you have to find...

The Physics and Chemistry Technicalities Thread

For chemistry, make sure you draw the bonds to the correct thing if that makes sense. For example, this is wrong: You MUST draw the bond to the oxygen not the hydrogen. When naming things, there are NO spaces between words. You put commas between the numbers and dashes between the numbers...

The Physics and Chemistry Technicalities Thread

This is a fantastic idea for a thread. As I think of stuff, I'll post it. First off, is it poly(ethylene) or polyethylene or does it not matter? For graphs, make sure you use AT LEAST 80% of both axis, you'll get docked if you don't. Put a title on it and make sure you have a line of best fit...

    UNSW AAA scholarship question -Law

Yep. I don't think the system should be like that because 5 points is WAY too many imo but yeah that's how it is atm. Congrats :)

    Studying? How much is enough?

It all depends on the person and I know its been said 100's of times but its true. Some people could get 98+ with half an hour a day, others will never hit that. It all depends on what YOU need to stay on top of everything and understand it all. Good luck

    Section I - Multiple Choice

Yeah confirmed- these are all right

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Ext 1

Maybe, maybe not. Remember that n can also be 0 so if they're picky, you could get docked for that

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Ext 1

You know that one side is common, two others are equal because of equal radii and the other two are equal because diagonals in a rectangle bisect each other. For b) iii), you need to consider that the domain of sin2(theta) is from 0<theta<180, not just 0<theta<90

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Ext 1

Did you guys get n is divisible by 4 for that one on the non-zero constant term?

    Q16

Yeah exactly- I mentioned this. My question is though- if you didn't, do you still get the mark?
  14. deswa1

    Q16

Can someone that knows how they mark explain this. For 16b) i), it gave that |x|, |y| <1. So obviously you're meant to deal with this restriction when you take the tan inverse etc. and get +kpi to show that k=0 and hence the result follows so I did that. My question is though, its only one mark-...

    Section I - Multiple Choice

Why are we still discussing 10 lol- its definitely B. A and D are odd between symmetrical limits so they don't work and C is below the y axis for all x in the domain. Though I only got 9/10 for MC :(- I put C for Q8.

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Ext 2

Solid paper. I confirmed dropped 13 marks so hoping for 85/100 though I could get heaps below that with sillies and stuff lol. I think at the start I was too careful and slow- my setting out for Q11 is beautiful etc. I tried to be careful with restrictions but I probs missed some of those as well.

    Q16

Q16 was pretty nice. The induction was too long for the mark value I thought. I didn't get a) ii), b was pretty straightforward (but the induction was long), I knew how to do c) i) but I miswrote a line in my working so I might get docked for that, c) ii) was easy, I sorta got, sorta fudged c)...

    Polar/Non-polar Hydrocarbons

Alcohols aren't hydrocarbons- hydrocarbons just have carbon and hydrogen

What should be do in reading time?

Look at all the questions- take especial note of the Q15's/16 and try to sorta get a plan of attack in your head. Then work out the circle geo in your head if you can- that's my plan
