To the shapers of the future - what's important to you??

May I suggest that such information be sent in a PM rather than posted here in the thread for all to see? This is an open forum, after all, and a number of members may not be comfortable with such information, as mundane as it may seem, being publicly available.

    Homosexuality in Australia

It's a serious thread and all posts are open to criticism. You didn't post in jest, S1M0, so there's no need for any of us to lighten up.

    Homosexuality in Australia

In what way is that relevant, S1M0? Surely I'm not alone in doubting the validity of the above tripe? I hope not, anyway. S1M0, whether or not the people in question are actually gay, the fact of the matter is that you shouldn't take an individual's personality to be representative of an...

New secret US base in Australia

Apples and oranges, as I'm sure you know.

    The Abortion Debate (continued)

Thanks for the response and the point of clarification, NTB :).

    The Abortion Debate (continued)

Rather than it being enough, do you think that it would be right for the opinion of the majority to trump what should be a woman's right to control her own body?

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Dorothy Dixer - "(Australian English) A question asked of a minister by a member of his own party, to give the minister the opportunity to promote the government's work, criticize the opposition, etc." I didn't catch Question Time in the House of Reps today, but I thought that it would be best...

2007 State Election - Labor or the Coalition/Iemma or Debnam?

Yes, the debate is still going to happen, and as the link states, it will take place on next week's Stateline programme.

    Australian flag BANNED!!!

Respect the disgusting way in which thugs appropriate the national symbol for their own petty purposes? It's unfortunate that such behaviour must be tolerated, but there's no reason to respect it. With comments like that it's little wonder that the organisers thought that it would be a good...

    Australian flag BANNED!!!

It would be a stretch if such people were referring to the above call. I must admit that I do consider the "Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi Oi" chant to be mind-numingly dull and somewhat cringeworthy when it's chanted by a group of drunks, but by anti-social I and others are clearly referring to...

    Australian flag BANNED!!!

Though I do not agree with an outright ban, I think that the BDO's current position is fair. The flag, much like any other symbol or entity, can be and is abused, and anyone who believes that this has not been particularly true of late is kidding themselves. However, the events of this morning...

    P-Plate Restrictions

It will only create problems for those who choose to move on from their Ls later in life. After all, 17 year olds (by law) can't be designated drivers in the conventional sense, can they?

    Use of the word 'racism'

Though I do disagree with ihavenothing's point of view, I really should say that token examples and personal confessions don't count for much in a debate like this.

    Homosexuality in Australia

Quite the turn of phrase there, chap! Though I do concede that Capitalist Scum may have a point regarding the poll, I personally don't see what is wrong with the poll if one takes the time to think about the issue given that it's quite easy to reach the position taken by dagwoman and kfunk...

Citizenship - The Citizenship Testing Discussion Paper

The idea of multiculturalism has always involved a degree of integration, so it's difficult to argue that it's a case of one versus the other. With that in mind, I think that that a better representation would be to say that it's a case of political integration versus cultural integration - both...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Re: 2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Beazley? I prefer to listen to the ABC's Sunday Profile program.

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Re: 2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Beazley? Wow. That's amazing. There's a point to the above, I take it?

    Does God exist?

The question still stands. I'm not expecting an answer, I'm just pointing out the obvious problem with the entire idea that a cautious person would be best to believe in God as it is described by the Christian faith (or the Abrahamic faiths in general).

    Does God exist?

Which God or framework of belief should one choose? To believe is hardly the 'cautious' option.
