Rudd plans to lower voting age to 16

It sets up unnecessary problems when the system we have in place works.

Rudd plans to lower voting age to 16

When we lower it to 16, 15 year olds will complain that they are disenfranchised and unrepresented, then 14 year olds will complain etc etc etc. By the end of it 10 year old kids will want to vote.

Rudd plans to lower voting age to 16

If the issues are so pertinent, why haven't teenagers done anything yet? Now that the voting age debate comes around, suddenly the issues seem to become important. Just saying.

Rudd plans to lower voting age to 16

Okay. fair enough. But perhaps those issues could be better tackled by youth in relation to policy and legislation, rather than by voting. As I said earlier, I'm not seeing many 16 year olds making much noise about the issues your mentioning. I'm not saying they don't exist, but there is nothing...

Rudd plans to lower voting age to 16

What would be the advantages of lowering the voting age to 16? Do the potential benefits outweigh the problems? Can someone identify any real issues with the current system as it stands?

Rudd plans to lower voting age to 16

Is there any problem with the current system? I'm not seeing many 16yr olds that passionate about voting that they'd actually do something about it.

    Dentistry at La Trobe?

Okay. WOW, only 40 places! That's intense. If I'm from qld, and have an 'okay' OP1, around 99.35 - 99.44, what are my chances?

Rudd plans to lower voting age to 16

The majority of my friends haven't really developed any real political views yet. While there would be many teenagers with an excellent understanding of and appreciation for Australian politics, I think that at 16 we may lack some life experience which is an integral part of molding our...

    Dentistry at La Trobe?

How does the reputation of a graduate dentist from La Trobe compare to other universities in Australia?. If I were to get in from QLD, should I accept, or do an undergraduate degree then reapply for dentistry at UQ & Griffith etc etc?
