    Is this common???

been in ur situation. i dropped out, then did some other stuff , arts/media/economics subjects, and decided i didn't like that either. and then i went back to law. lesser of 2 evils really. all study is shit generally (from my experience). i don't think being a lawyer will be shit though. even...

How hard is it to maintain a D average in first year law?

i thought it was generally >75 = 1st class honours. at least for UTS anyway. that's scary the fact that you potentially need >76 or 77 to get 1st class honours. and scary that 10 per cent get into this band :O I would've thought less get first class honours. maybe like 5 per cent of the year.

    what is the real difference

Marmalade - I wasn't saying "you" as in "you personally". I just meant, generally, if one were to find themselves in that situation the 'real difference' would be that you would probably want to learn to be a better independent learner if that makes sense. But yeah, what Frigid said - just 'rep'.

    what is the real difference

If you have crappy teachers, becoming a better independent learner is the best solution. More easily said than done.

    Case note

yah true. good points you raise there. my biggest problem is I'm pedantic about structure. I'm trying to guess/obsess over how they want it set out and written.

    Case note

where they want you to discuss the "Correctness or otherwise of the decision in the light of other authorities on the point", does that mean, correctness in light of the previous authorities, or correctness in light of subsequent decisions? edit: i guess this would fit into the main section, in...

lol. I'd recommend getting 'laying down the law' - a pretty solid foundations text which explains all of the stuff about ratio and obiter dicta. Google the terms too... Ratio = the holding of the case. What the majority held. But sometimes the majority judgment can be comprised of individual...

I;ll take a guess. "manufacturer owes a duty of care to a consumer where there is no opportunity for inspection of the goods by a retailer/resupplier (intermediary party)"

    Case note

Been doing some research into the 'correct' way to write a case note. I've got a maximum limit of 1800, and it seems as though it's easy to overload the case note with headings. For instance, they want us to consider each of the following 1. principles for which the case is authority 2. extent...

My confession regarding: UWS Law and things

I'd be interested to compare exam questions from the sandstone uni's with those of more newly established and less prestigious uni's. I go to UTS, and I'm quite happy with it. I'm an independent learner, and I just quietly and diligently work away doing my own thing knowing that I'll get to...

    Donoghue v Stevenson

Some cases will be more iportant than others. They'll let you know which ones to focus on. Reading judgments in general though is just a good habit. but often too much reading can cloud your thought, and sometimes it's just best to take 1 or 2 points from a case that could be quite long. it's...
