Half yearly marks and ranks + thoughts

How dare you question the merits of the intellectually draining experience that is dancing?1!11!one.

Half yearly marks and ranks + thoughts

My Modern History mark, 93% (first in the year), confused the hell out of me. Considering that the final essay (which was worth 25% of the mark) was a horrific abortion of a last-ten-minutes rush job, I don't know how on Earth I did so well. My French marks, on the other hand, were entirely...

Is Year 12 Making You Unnactractive, Class of 2007?

Is Year 12 making me unattractive? No, it is allowing me time to cultivate my luscious, Mustainian locks, a sea of masculinity from which women, enchanted by the virility of it all, cannot escape. (In other words, eh, I look marginally better now that I have long hair. It frames my face in a...

What did you achieve these holidays?

I spent these holidays pretending to have done History and English Extension 2 work. We all know it amounted to but a few scribblings in journals.

What topic did everyone do for their major Project?

I'm analysing the causes of the Civil War, with particular attention given to disproving the post-war Southern assertion that slavery wasn't the main cause.

The subject you have the most confidence in.

I'll probably kill modern history, I tend to do very well in it. 96% on the preliminaries, for instance. My other subjects, though...well. Not quite 96%.

the subject you have the least confidence in.

Either maths or French continuers, chiefly because I hate the former completely and am really frightened of speaking exams in the latter.

i suck at general maths HARD!

I think the average mark in exams for our class is actually a fail. Go team!

subjects u wish u didnt choose

Choosing economics perhaps wasn't my finest decision. It's not that the subject is really hard as such, it's just that it's so dense. There's such a broad range of knowledge you need to acquire. As for the rest of my subjects, eh, they're not too bad.

    what school are you at?

    Straight outta St Ives High.

    Having more than ten units

Does having more than ten units have any bearing on your final UAI? Do they take the fact that you did more subjects than you absolutely had to into account? I'm doing thirteen at the moment, and I was wondering if dropping anything would make a difference in that regard.

    Yr 12 Privileges

We get jerseys and use of the common room, but that's really about it. They scrapped the Year 12 ski camp in '05 because it wasn't "educational" and got rid of our canteen line just at the end of last year. Wankers.

    Quoting "real" literature/songs/films

In our Extension 2 major works, are we permitted to include quotes from novels, films, songs and the like? I was considering opening each act/chapter/subdivision with a relevant/clever/insightful quote, but I'm not sure if that's allowed. I mean, if it's not okay then it isn't the end of the...

What's on your Year 12 Jersey?

I don't really have a nickname to speak of, so I just figured I'd make a Pink Floyd reference. Thus, "Floydian". I was going to get "Blue Monday", but that wouldn't fit. We had a ten character limit.

    Best Dance Video Clips?

Aphex Twin's "Windowlicker", courtesy of the sick, sick mind of Chris Cunningham. It's worth the price of admission purely for the two guys at the beginning.

    Anyone into photography?

A night time shot of the street my uncle lives on in Auckland, December 2006.

    How THICK is your journal?

The totality of my journal thus far is some pencil scribblings about possible characters, a quote from William S. Burroughs about how he got into hard drugs, and a vague passage I wrote about someone hanging themselves. It's, err, bleak and brief.
