A message for class of 2005/6

In saying this, I will clarify exactly what I mean. I am saying, if your expectations of yourself are causing you to excessively stress (e.g. not sleep, worry alot etc) LOWER THEM- make a realistic aim, one that won't cause you to stress too much!!! If you want to talk to someone about it, as I...

A message for class of 2005/6

True. To year 10 and any one else for that matter: I have already said some things in relation to this issue but I really can't emphasize strongly enough the importance of recognising when your stress levels are too high and more importantly still, actually DOING something about it. If you...

A message for class of 2005/6

No, year 11-12. And by majors, we mean Ext English, Ext Maths, Ext 2 English etc. Any of the extension subjects. I did Ext English and Ext Maths. I also did just over a term of Ext 2 Maths at the beginning of Year 12, but my stress levels got too high, so I dropped it. :)

    Heart of Darkness

I did Heart of Darkness in Year 11 Ext English. It basically is about English Colonisation. Find a section where they are travelling down the river in the Congo and Conrad is describing the setting and perhaps compare it to a section at the beginning of the text before he leaves? Long time...

A message for class of 2005/6

Certainly it does- but it's definitely NOT the be all and end all. I ended up doing well in my HSC, but only AFTER my stress levels got way out of hand in mid-Year 12. So, if it is going to cause you alot of stress (excessive stress we are talking about) in order to obtain that mark, IT IS NOT...

A message for class of 2005/6

I'm a she! :p But yeah, talk to someone- THEY WILL LISTEN. And always remember, there have been Year 12 students to go through with the HSC before you, AND THEY SURVIVED IT!!!! (Trust me, I'm one of them!!!!!)

A message for class of 2005/6

Flipsyde- that could almost be me speaking. I only did 2 majors (started out with 3) but I got SO stressed during Year 12. Anyone in class of 2005/6 believe me, IT IS NOT WORTH IT. As Flipsyde said, it is NOT the be all and end all. And aiming for a UAI too high, I did that and therefore ended...

    study hours required for uni?

So, generally, is it more or less work than the HSC? Or is it just relative to how much you personally need to do to achieve what you want? Just curious : )

    The Greatest Book Ever Written

Personally my favourite novel is Vikram Seth's An Equal Music. However, I think that probably in terms of 'brilliant' writing, Barbara Kingsolver's The Poisionwood Bible is the cream of the crop. The characterisation is amazing. Oh, it terms of humourous writing, I can't go past Hitchhiker's...
