    law technical stuff!

That's interesting Jonathan. I was under the belief that litigation relating to the corporations law (i.e. commercial litigation) was the most common form of litigation. It'd be interesting to see some stats somewhere, if any.

Effect of 'other' degree on your future...

Hi Charlie, There are a few threads relating to combined degrees, here in the general law forum and other law forums within the specific universities (but not relating to the specific university). It might be worth having a look. Employers will certainly ask and consider your answer very...

    Law/Engineering

I am not sure whether law necessarily helps research skills. I am sure there are some similarities (i.e. they're not exclusive) but not so straightforward. On the same token, I am not sure whether engineering necessarily helps legal skills. It's up to the individual, I think, and not the...

    Law/Engineering

What options are you thinking of taking with a biomedical engineering background that does not involve research? I was under the impression that it was a high-demand area. You may need to probe this person further and whether they speak from personal experience, and if so, what specifically...

    law technical stuff!

It's the law of 'wrongs', although I don't expect that answer to help. However, torts are notably in the civil jurisdiction (where the defendant gets sued) as opposed to charging someone for a criminal act. Torts is an area of law. Most famously, negligence law is part of the torts. More...

    Science (Psychology)/Law

I agree :) Same goes for majors, I think too (at least in my case). I believe I only have the area that I did my honours year in.

    B Science/B Law

There was no warning! :) I imagine that you will definitely have to enter a specific code - it is strange to me that there is not a specific code for Arts/Law, Comm/Law or Science/Law etc. If the UAC guide says this is possible (despite the apparent lack of a code) whilst USYD says its not...

    Why Medicine?

Medical research, backward in Australia? That is the most strangest thing that I have heard in this forum so far. One of the strongest points of this nation is its medical research efforts and we are talking about quality and quantity. What is your point in relation to you knowing a...

    Why Medicine?

That's the thing, however, keep in mind that Florey and MacFarlane Burnett are primarily composed of medical research scientists and not clinicians, despite being practical in nature as well. This is the key point that I am trying to make in this thread.

    Law/Engineering

Why did they say that? There are always employment opportunities in fields of technological innovation, particularly with biomedical engineering when there's a lot of commercial incentive in that area.

    Answers about Law

Hi Lainee, I do not believe that Commerce/Law graduates are 'flooding' the job market in the sense that it's 'going to happen'. This is particularly because commerce/law graduates have always been, in my experience, the most popular type of law graduates. It's great that you're exploring...

Hi there Green_tealeaves, There are varied opinions here on the board but I recommend that your desired university is higher on the 'to-do' list than the desired course at a different less reputable university. This relates more on the university experience since a year is a long time - you...

where does each double degree take you?

Hi Bearpooh, What do you mean by useful? The usefulness of each option that you have outlined above depends on what you'd like to achieve at the end of it. Do you mean in terms of obtaining graduate employment in a law firm? It's certainly best to undertake a local LLB first and...

    Largest University.

LOL Yikes! The figure 1300 hectares was concrete enough for me. I was referring to the sizes of universities in Melbourne :) I wonder if Melbourne Uni or Monash has a hidden vineyard somewhere.

    Largest University.

It's fairly big in terms of land size perhaps, but compared to Hawkesbury? I still don't think Monash's land size is that big - perhaps you're not used to it. I'd say the other universities in Melbourne are fairly similar in size. Someone bring up some concrete facts! :)

    Law/Engineering

After a week? It's pretty difficult to tell whether you feel comfortable with the workload in the first week, particularly as the first few weeks are very much introductory. If your heart is not set on engineering (and your fallback with commerce is in great contrast), I believe you will not...

    Largest University.

Interesting question. Monash is supposedly Australia's biggest university although I think it relates to student population: 54 000 students (including 16, 000 international students) at eight campuses - including six in Australia, one in Malaysia and one in South Africa. I would not think...

    Employer's view of uni.

I think this very much depends on the employer, particularly his/her own background, in a similar way as whether you went to a private/public high school. In many cases (other than positions solely based on academic marks), recruitment is very subjective.

Hi there Townie, Yes, I have completed a double degree. Now, does that prevent me from answering your second question? :) I'll risk it by saying that I thoroughly recommend combined law degrees particularly as I am not aware of anybody in law firms (or students!) that only possess the one...
