    jamesboyd9, you hit the nail right on the head effort gets you places, but they're not necessarily the best place to be the hsc fails for measuring effort > intelligence which is pretty much the reason so many idiots get top jobs

    How do rankings of schools affect your HSC mark?

    you don't get your internal marks until you get your hsc marks because they have to be moderated on november 12 you do, however, receive your rankings in your school cohort which is what determines (when moderated against the hsc) how high or low your school mark will be the school's ranking...

    you can't "fail" the hsc you just do worse than others

    agreed. but to further the discussion.. my school is currently ranked 3rd in regards to hsc results (check top schools list if you really want to know, oh wait it's in my profile, lol) anyway, there are many naturally talented kids in my cohort BUT it's the ones that have put in 110% effort...
