Congestion costs Sydney $8bn p.a. and rising.
Current population growth has to be accomodated in greenfield sites on city fringes, where people are being forced to undertake long commute times.
Building new public transport underneath Sydney is incredibly expensive, certainly much more than it...
Except that banks have reserve ratios which prohibits a certain % of that money from being lent out
And then secondly you have to consider that rich people will spend their money on luxury goods which dont affect the CPI nearly as much as minimum wage workers buying basic goods
because a greater proportion of company revenues go to low income earners with higher MPCs than their employers who would have kept the money in profits otherwise
so money passes through the economy at a faster rate, effectively decreasing its value
The only thing needed to be extracted from that article is the 1.4m number, which is highly unlikely to be just made up.
Read the thread before you post.

Anyway, how do rising wages not cause inflation? (obviously if they are directly matched with productivity growth they don't - but...
Absolutely not.
You haven't even engaged with:
-the economic benefits of regional development
-the savings from not having to build a new Sydney airport
-the fact that this transport corridor is the 4th busiest in the entire world
All that has been concluded in this thread is that:
-the...
He hardly ever uses this term - it's now all about "working families"
I have no sympathy for them: they get FTB A and B, their kids get YA and they're eligible for a whole range of means tested benefits from the baby bonus to free solar panels
I'd conclude that there are 2 real classes of...
Hey guys,
As its nearing EOFY, I was wondering if anyone has any tips to reduce tax liability/increase your refund?
From what I've read, it seems that there are really no deductions available for uni students/employees who don't do work at home
You would obviously have to tunnel under the great dividing range
And HSR can handle some pretty impressive grades due to the sheer momentum of the trains
That puts the distance at 830km
The articles posted earlier suggest your estimates are wrong... even if you're right, the margin is very...
Massive assertion, proven wrong in the context we are debating by the French example I offered + the way our monarchistic institutions have remained rock solid for 110yrs now
Give me some examples of specific incompatibilities between "australians growing up in the 21st century" and our...
You don't get what I'm saying.
I realise and agree that our culture is moving away from its traditional roots, but I'm asserting that that's a bad thing and that we need to do everything we can to maintain the foundations that made Australia so great.
Current trends are seeing the beginning of...
There are 11.05m employed people in Australia
Of these, 1.4m are on the minimum wage.
So were talking about 12.7% of workers, not just the "so unskilled" dregs of the labour market
Britain's multi-cultural policy has been completely fucked up, with unprecedented levels of disadvantage breeding things like knife crime and muslim extremism... but that's a separate issue altogether
Its quite possible that William will take the throne quickly after/instead of Charles... and...
Take away the monarchy, and you're essentially saying, "our heritage has been rendered meaningless, Australia is actually devoid of culture and a blank slate on which today's youth should impart their current values/cultural influences."
This attitude is BS and damn right disrespectful IMO
If...
So basically fuck the fact that Australia's legal system, extremely high quality of life rankings, and famed social conventions (egalitarianism, not being too serious etc) are all direct results of strong European foundations?
Remaining a constitutional monarchy reminds every Australian that...
1. Those conclusively show that in operation, trains use a hell of a lot less energy than planes
2. The Freakonomics study shows that after 60yrs, all environmental benefits will have paid for themselves... thats a reasonable time frame when you consider the potential life of this...

I don't know if limits should be raised, but I think cops should take a more progressive approach to road safety.
