    staying awake

I get 1 or 2 study lessons a week, and they're too noisy so that's impossible, unfortunately. And my bus is semi-public, so you get crazy drivers going over roundabouts and stopping suddenly, definately not advisable, unfortunately. LOL, my Eng/RE teacher constantly tells me she's worried...

    staying awake

My Eng teacher thought I fell asleep one lesson watching a video (but I had my eyes closed because when I looked at the interviewee, I was trying to figure out if his hands were deformed, and couldn't understand his accent, so I figured I'd just listen) and she threw her book down on my desk, so...

    staying awake

It takes me 9 hours from when I get on my bus of a morning until I get home at 4:30. Then I sorta read what I'm meant to do, mentally plan, or generally up-date my maths notes or organise my 2nd Chem folder (did HSC course last year, re-doing it, so I'm trying to be more organised)have dinner...

    staying awake

But if it's like many people I know, there's not enough time to sleep when tired and finish homework/study/assessments. Cat naps don't really help, I've heard.

    staying awake

This thread suits me. I swear I thought I had forgotten how to fall asleep the other night, so I did an hour of English at 1am. Didn't regret it til 7:30 when I left my iPod and pencilcase at home because I was running late for the bus, and in English where Shakespear on tape makes me tired...

who here has their own study guide books?

I've just got the Excel HSC Chemistry one from last year -- I only bought it because I knew I'd repeat and it'd be worth it. Just this afternoon I bought the pocket Chem book, because I know most of the things, I just need to be reminded by certain words or phrases before I can remember the...

The "I just had a shit day at school" thread

I guess I did take it out of context, but it did sound like you thought they were just getting them to do all the work. Still sorta does. I don't see the 'attitude' in: Just sounds like if she doesn't understand it after a few more lessons, she'll get someone to help her understand them...

The "I just had a shit day at school" thread

What's so wrong about getting a tutor to help you understand some things a bit better, or at a slower pace than can be accomodated in class? I mean, before you can "walk through to door" you have to learn how to walk. If watching people walk, to continue your metaphor, doesn't help, what's wrong...

The "I just had a shit day at school" thread

I'm sick of hypocritical teachers -.- The way I prioritise my tasks is assessable, then not assessable, but certain teachers can't get over the fact that English isn't the be all and end all. Synthesis essays are the last thing on my mind when I have RE ISP, Eco in class essay, maths mini-test...

Jerseys for yr 12 2006! (merged)

As long as it's not random sound effects. Where does Nozza come from? I'll probably get Savannah. 'Savvy' will get old quick, and 'Bisho' doesn't appeal.

    Timetables

My timetable is pretty good. I don't get to come to school late or leave early because it's not school policy, but I basically have two proper lessons every second Friday due to an 'on-line', 1u free, double of Chem (did it last year, but repeating). I do Economics 'on-line' (as in, over a...

    Skool Uniform !!!!!

Wow, someone from my school already posted on policy. Girls are allowed a watch, bracelet, necklace (with gold medallion or cross, apparently, but no-one's ever been pulled up for that) and one set of earrings. Sleeper's can't be any bigger than 1.5cm in diameter, but seniors basically get away...

    Plans For After The HSC

Sports Journo, focusing on horseracing, or NRL if I get interested in it again.

American Pie (not the disgusting movie) the song by Don McLean

What I think is most enigmatic and interesting about 'American Pie' is the fact that McLean refuses to say what it's about, letting the listener interpret it for themselves. I loved the lines about the Rolling Stone's concert where someone died, and Elvis' decline. Made it sound so much like a...

HARRY POTTER & the goblet of fire!!

Well, it had to be 9pm, because originally we were going to book the whole theatre, so 9pm would cause less problems with other people who wanted to see it. I think I understand what you mean, but still, it's two weeks :P

HARRY POTTER & the goblet of fire!!

Does anyone know why we're getting it so late? I mean, NZ gets it in a couple of days, and we get it at the same time as Croatia? =/ I have high hopes for this movie. I liked POA as a movie, but as an adaptation it could have been so much better. Anyway, about 60 people from our area are...

    PwC Economics Competition

At least I know my school wasn't the only one who never got the results. I sucked, but I would like to better myself for next year.

those of us now in yr 12...

Chapter 2 in Eco is nice and easy -- I was suprised to see some good questions in the HSC about tariff and protectionist policies, and I hope they're in there next year. The CSU website has some OK tutorials on chap 2 stuff if you need them.
