    "Nerds" At USYD/UNSW?

Nerdiness is not a contagious disease. If you see nerds, you won't suddenly catch it and become a nerd. But hey, you're at least good for a laugh, albeit laced with pity.

2004 Top of state in japanese

It's spelt stingy, but that's besides the point. Yes, I am a girl, yes I am chinese. Knowing kanji...well, it helped a bit, but beginners don't need much, so it wasn't a great advantage. Going on exchange was the best thing, I think, because it really forced me to learn Japanese and it was...

    hardwork vs. natural ability

A girl at my school, who was just pretty average all through high school, worked super hard in Year 12, and she got 98.95, so it's possible. My other friend doesn't work very hard, her idea of studying is reading the textbook once, and she got 99.90. So it goes both ways.

For anyone who got 99+: did you have a job?

I didn't work per se, but I did help my parents out with paperwork and stuff, probably 6 hours a week. It's not too bad, and I don't really think it matters. People who have a job could be really focused, and do well, and those who don't can also just do nothing anyway, and do badly. So it...

    Suspension

One girl from our school got suspended for sticking (clean) pads and (dirty) pieces of lettuce with band-aids on this other girl's locker... but she wasn't suspended for bullying, but rather stealing the supplies from Sick Bay. She later got expelled for stealing another kid's laptop and then...

2004 Top of state in japanese

I went to Japan for 3 months. That was really good... desire to communicate (basic human instinct) is great motivator for learning a language. If you ever get the chance, I urge you to go!

    King Lear

Haha... I remember those... Umm, play cards while you watch. Or watch it with friends. Or follow the play while watching. Or just pretend you've watched. I did a combination of all of the above. Just pick out a few points from the movies, then you should be fine.

    Best Economics Textbook

I agree with Without Wings. Read Leaing Edge first, because it gives you a great overview, and then Riley for more analysis, and finally Bulmer fills you in on current stats so you look like a pro.

90+ ppl: When did u start studying?

I hate to say it, but I only read half of King Lear and watched some different plays half-heartedly (ie. playing cards while it was on) And Brave New World, I just remembered from Year 8... The rest I read though, honest.

Does the amount of units u do affect scaling and stuff...

I don't think it really matters. So long as you do well. I did 13 units and some would say that's alot to keep track of, but I got Band 6 in all of them. So, it really depends on whether you're confident or not.

Who can be bothered? I might try, if I don't have anything to do. But don't expect miracles.

90+ ppl: When did u start studying?

Umm...the main thing was listen in class. If you do that, then you don't need to study. I started studying during stuvac, and 2 nights before assessments. Of course, I utilised the time between exams during the HSc, but still managed to watch 2 hours of TV each night.
