Well what you've done unit-wise already is now part of the HRM degree. So say you've done unit XXXX111, and thats not part of the outlined units, then that 3 units less that you have for electives.

Yeah, the deriving part is the marks, and just putting in the answer would not gain marks, as it shows the marker that you have not understood the theory for the question. If the question stated only for the answer, then you would get full marks, whether working or not.
