    Veterinary Science

none whatsoever, i love it, even though its tough at times, like when assignments are due etc, i would never consider doing anything else! but i've wanted to be a vet since before i can even remember, so i'm slightly biased! But yeah, i love it, its tops, cant reccomend it enough!

    uac preferences.....

yes, you could get Law UNSW (HECS) and Law Usyd (Fee) Generally they wont offer you a fee paying and hecs to the same course at the same uni. So you wouldnt get Usyd (hecs) and usyd (fee). You can get an offer to your highest HECS and highest Fee paying preference, unless they are the same thing...

    Early Round Offers

maybe it wasnt done through UAC? my friend got that to armidale a few years ago, early acceptance. UNE does that a fair bit i think, maybe it is done through the uni, not UAC. In general UAC early offers are only to international stdents etc. If you want it, accept it. If not, wait till main...

    Confused about credit points

for me, 1 cp = about 1.3hrs of contact. For 24 cp, i will have 32 contact hours next sem. Depends on the subject. Science subjects usually require more time at uni, arts subjects usually require more at home reading.

    Veterinary Science

hey, i am here! Ok, stress less. Vet science is sciency, but not in the traditional way. In first year, you have to do chemistry (which would probably be the worst of it for you) and Cell biology, but the cell bio is interesting, and after you get through the first dull stuff about the...

    Confused about credit points

dont know about the specifics, but generally the load is 24cp per semester, so 48 per year. You can take more, but that is known as "overloading" and depending on the subjects you are doing, is not recommended. Generally 1cp= 1 hour of contact time, so you wouldnt be wanting to do too many extra.

Information about Usyd Open Day on January 5th?

basically, its open from 9-4, free buses from central. All faculties will be represented in the great and mclaurin halls in the main quad (the big sandstone building) and the ppl will be able to help answer questions regarding your choice of uni course. The day is designed to provide...

How come we dont get free transport, TAFE does?

the concession cards can only be used on state run transport systems - ie city rail and state buses. Most Private bus companies require a separate application. I know my local one requires you to apply every 6 months, send in a passport photo and get a special form from the student centre. Its a...

    B Arts and Sciences

i dunno what the cutoff will be, its so hard to tell. I think the fact that it is so general might scare some ppl off, because it wont push them in any direction, and at the end they still might not know what they want to do in life. The fact that it is new and there are no graduates to follow...

    University Prizes

wow congrats! that means u came top of the unit! (or second... depends on the unit). Usually the prizes involve a cash payment of some sort. I know last year for my entomology uni the prize was $1000. Depends on the faculty i suppose, they'll probably contact you later on.

    Employer's view of uni.

depends on the course, different uni's have different reputations for different courses. Your uni could work for you or against you depending on the source of the chip on your employers shoulder.

    Transport

yeah the bus is too much effort, lining up, cramming on, holding on for dear life, squishing your way off the bus a whole 2 stops later, and rembering to buy a ticket when u run out..... too much effort. I just walk, so much easier, expecially when you get into autopilot mode and you get to uni...

    Info day 5th Jan

yeah man i get paid, geez, serving food to geniuses for free? i dont think so! I think i'l be involved more in helping set up etc, rather than serving, they have hospitality staff for that, i am a marketing staff person. But like i said, come visit me in the science rd stall! i'll be...

    Overwhelmed

yeah the first few lectures are crowded, but thats coz the uni overenrolls to make up for ppl dropping out, which many ppl do, so after a few weeks its all fine. Its hard to tell about the international students coz a lot of ppl who did the HSC in Aus are not your stereotypical "aussie" so...

    fee paying/hecs

yes you pay heaps more. Just how much depends on the course, but for vet science (one of the most expensive) fee paying is $28,000 per year, while HECS is $8000 per year. Most courses Fee paying are between $10-20,000 per year, while HECS is between $3-8,000 per year. BIG DIFFERENCE!!!!

    Transport

a weekly rail ticket is cheaper than buying 4 separate tickets, so if u r at uni for 4 or more days a week, buy a weekly. For buses buy a travel 10 ticket, from the wentworth newsagency (or a sydney buses place) and that entitles you to 10 bus trips, you just put it in the macine on the bus...
