Help with Year 11 Subject Choices - Chemistry or Biology?!

LMFAO, are you kidding, do you know what you're talking about? What about Medical Physics, an entire module on medicine... You don't need to know how frogs breath, how to model natural selection, how plants suck water from the ground, or how some plants survive in the desert, etc..., you don't...

Help with Year 11 Subject Choices - Chemistry or Biology?!

Cracking and fractional distillation are the first 2 pages of the textbook, it is nothing to base your judgement of HSC chemistry on. You do, cracking, fractional distillation, condensation/addition polymerisation, fermentation, hydration, dehydration over all this is for ethylene, polymers and...

    General Help for Inequalities

Can anyone have a go at doing this question? Prove that a^3+b^3+c^3=3abc if and only if a=b=c or a+b+c=0.

    General Help for Inequalities

Question: If n is a positive integer prove that \sqrt[n]{n!}\geq \sqrt{n}. Solution: Since n!=1.2.3...(n-1)n and n!=n(n-1)...3.2.1, (n!)^2=(1\times n)(2\times (n-1))...(n\times 1). We need to prove that each of the above factors is greater or equal to n. Indeed, for 1\leq k\leq n...

Help with Year 11 Subject Choices - Chemistry or Biology?!

The only people who hate chemistry at my school are the ones who don't understand it!

Help with Year 11 Subject Choices - Chemistry or Biology?!

I regret doing biology, chemistry and physics are more than enough, I wish I chose SLR because biology isn't gonna count any ways, I'm most likely dropping it. 62% raw mark in MX2 scales to about 92, and 75% scales to 95-97 but is isn't easy to get a 75% (90/120) raw mark! I wanna try and get...

Help with Year 11 Subject Choices - Chemistry or Biology?!

There is so much difference between what you study in preliminary and what you study in HSC in almost all subjects, HSC is much more interesting and much better structured, all the modules are relevant to each other and everything makes sense, especially in chemistry and physics. Are you...

    Subject Selection for next year

If you want to do engineering at university, engineering studies isn't required at all, however, MX1 and physics are considered assumed knowledge so I recommend doing MX1 and physics.

Help with Year 11 Subject Choices - Chemistry or Biology?!

Ethanol is not currently viable as an alternative fuel for mass consumption. At the moment, methods of producing ethanol are expensive compared with the price of obtaining non-renewable supplies such as coal oil and natural gas. This was clearly illustrated by the failed Brazilian attempt to use...

    ATAR Estimate Please.

I don't think ranks ultimately determine what ATAR you'll get, I might be wrong but you have done only 30% of your HSC, you still have trials about 20% and the HSC about 50%, you still can do well I think, but considering that you said this "Additionally, I am expecting rather average marks from...

    ATAR Estimate Please.

Considering you do general mathematics and you are 22/65, I'd say 70's, may be 80. If you get 90+ as row marks in the trials/HSC for all subjects, you might have a chance in getting a decent ATAR, like 95. Don't give up man, just do past papers, do like 2-3 per day.

    ANU VS UNSW VS USyD

Will aim for Oxford then when I do post graduate studies. I don't like extra curriculum stuff, I've never done any extra curriculum activities at my school... Oxford is rank 4 in the world, not bad at all.

Help with Year 11 Subject Choices - Chemistry or Biology?!

I agree, I don't like the way Chemistry is structured in the HSC but you still need to understand the concept very well. For example, I never memorised any long response answers for chemistry, I just understand the concepts behind it.

From standard to advanced (english) ??

Yeah, even at my school, all the international students do it because they are illegible. What a huge advantage LOL. But you can't get into medicine as undergraduate if you do ESL, that's the only downside to it.

    Simple probability question.

Never mind, I think I get it, it says "more likely to land showing heads than showing tails" so I guess we use 0.6?

    Simple probability question.

Two identical biased coins are each more likely to land showing heads than showing tails. The two coins are tossed together, and the outcome is recorded. After a large number of trials it is observed that the probability that the two coins land showing a head and a tail is 0.48 . What is the...
