    The Problem with Rote Learning

I know that, but in the end, it always seems to me that the history/social science kids end up coming off worse (yes I'm obviously bitter). But Chemistry, and Physics to a lesser extent are rote learnable and you don't have to be ultra good to do well in them - understand major concepts, rote...

    The Problem with Rote Learning

Dude you don't realise how much the HSC system is disadvantaged towards people who do English and histories as opposed to 4U, Phys, Chem, Eco...

    The Problem with Rote Learning

I reckon it's good that the science courses have so much bullshit. I for one, am not that great at science. I'm better at social sciences. But after all, HSC --> pathway to uni --> determined by ATAR. 3U/4U Maths, Sciences scale well. Simple as that. Once you get to uni, I'm a full advocate...

    Questions from accelerated student

Tbh if you reckon you can do well in Chem and Eco, don't repeat Phys. Unless you simply didn't try in Phys, your marks won't necessarily be all that much higher. It'd be better to focus on getting a B6 in Chem and Eco. Just my opinion.

    Chemistry Questions

Re: production of materials propagation question? Initiation --> propagation --> termination. You need to explain each step and draw a structural formula for each step. First step is initiation. An initiator molecule is added to start the polymerisation, usually peroxide such as benzoyl...

    Covalent bonds

Ammonia has 4 electron pairs right? 1 at the top, 1 left, 1 right, 1 bottom. However, it only has 3 bonding pairs since 1 of the electron pairs is unbonded. The unbonded electron pair repels the bonding electron pairs causing them to bend down. That's why it looks like a trigonal pyramid (aka...

    Covalent bonds

Some of them are charged because of hydrogen bonds due to differences in polarity - this is from topic 3, water so don't fret over it. And PM me if you want something better for revision than that trash Conquering Chem for Year 11 :P

Year 12 2013 Chit Chat Thread

Um we haven't got our marks back yet - creative writing went horribly (not my forte - will be happy not to see it again until trials) and the short answers was pretty hard to draw out belonging concepts. Essay went fine though. Luckily, essay's 15% weighing, creative + short answers are 5%...
