    Is Math really that important?

What kind of maths do you mean?

    Is Math really that important?

WHAT! That is complete bull Don't listen to your tutor! In all honesty if a course does recommend/require (but only a few actually require e.g. Actuarial Studies) Mathematics - then they will be asking for at least 2U - barely anything asks for General Maths - it's useless. What do you wanna do...

    Coming 1st

Assessment mark = school mark Exam mark = mark in HSC exams These two marks are used to calculate your ATAR. So you're ranked 1. Pretend in the HSC exams you completely bomb and get 70. The person who comes 1st in the HSC exam in your cohort gets 95. So then your assessment mark becomes...

    Selective school vs public school

In my opinion the environment at a selective environment is more conducive to success --> pretty much all students work hard and want to do well and *most* teachers are more than well-equipped enough to provide the necessary help/advice/resources for this success (and many teachers are seasoned...

Thinking of dropping to standard english

Lmao dude I'm starting to get the feeling you were already decided before you posted this thread

    No math

Dw bro even without 4u eng or maths, 80+ ATAR is highly achievable

    No math

Lmao don't worry you don't need to do maths to get a good atar. It's been done before and it will keep being done. And it's not like these were one-off cases either. Drevikovsky is one example as previously mentioned but there are scores of others. There's a girl who graduated last year and is...

    Are characterisation and representation themes?

Characterisation is. Representation isn't (as far as I know.) With characterisation always make sure you follow it up with what they're actually being characterized as since most people forget to do that (e.g. The persona was characterized as evil... a naive child... etc)

    Is it better to...

In my paragraphs I usually just have a generic sentence that links to the question and module. Then in the second sentence I jump into the text and say something like "These ideas are exemplified in Robert Gray's "Poem" that reinvents our relationship with landscape etc." Then you kind of just...

    Is it better to...

Haha no it's fine ! What is that strategy? Also *not sure* if this will actually be useful so just elaborate or give me specific examples if you want better advice haha You should prepare by reading the rubric/syllabus for each module to gauge exactly what ideas should be embedded throughout...

    Your subject regrets

no regrets about my current subjects i do regret not doing legal studies though...it sounds so fun and interesting but i ended up choosing biology over it so i could have more "balanced" subjects... I ended up dropping bio anyway :\\ also wanted to do Physics but I am so bad at maths it's...

I'm not exactly sure what you mean... do you mean you find it difficult to sustain your thesis in the body?

If asked AT LEAST ONE RELATED TEXT, would you do one or two?

For both AOS and Mod C I have two relateds prepared but only 1 paragraph for each so I'm not in the position to use just one -- so I would use two definitely. In the case the ask for just one I just write both paragraphs anyway and just pretend they came from the same text

    Is it better to...

It's really whichever works best for you. I know people who do well by using either method. Personally I think it's better to write a generic essay (with word count leeway) and then just adapt it to the question on the spot. It's easier because at least I know my ideas are coherent, can link...

Raw mark needed for Band 6 in French Continuers?

Advice : How do you guys get energy after school to study?

Get enough sleep during nights When you get home don't sleep no matter what you do and try not to watch tv or eat because you will probably fall asleep. For a short while earlier this year (only a short while because I gave up after like two weeks) this worked for me: I'd get home...

Thinking of dropping to standard english

I think they mean if you were to get, say, a 90 HSC Mark - In Advanced you would only need a raw mark of 79 whereas in Standard you would need an 85

Raw mark needed for Band 6 in French Continuers?

I know for Japanese cont you need like raw 89 to get band 6 so would French be around the same? (i seriously hope it's lower though fml) Specifically, if I wanted to get a HSC Mark of 95 what raw mark do you think I'd need? Thank you :D

Year 11 into year 12 questions

It's better to keep doing Advanced as previously said He shouldn't drop a subject for the sake of it unless it will be significantly beneficial (i.e. he is doing really badly, it's his worst subject, it's unsalvageable) otherwise every unit will count and he'll have no back up if he does do...
