how badly will english standard impact my atar?

Also keep in mind that this was more than 10y ago - during a time when math had no formula sheets or multiple choice, and we could leave the hsc early (I left my phys and chem exam after 90mins). Not sure if that'd change anything, but yeh it was a different era lol.

how badly will english standard impact my atar?

It's pretty doable, assuming you do well in every other subject. I got 98-99 with an 80 in english.

    BoS Maths Trials 2019

I remember tutoring a student many many years back, and we were working on a problem where we had just found x = 100. Later in the question, it asks you to calculate what x_0 is, and they wrote down x_0=100_0. I was speechless at the sheer ingenuity of it. Gave me a good laugh.

civil engineering or civil w architecture

You'd still be doing a full-load regardless - your degree will simply be longer. How relaxed it is depends on how you find each stream. E.g. A full engineering load might be 26hrs a week, whereas a full commerce load might be 13hrs a week. So some students find doing a combined...

civil engineering or civil w architecture

Depends on the uni. UNSW offers a civil engineering degree with a minor in architecture. USYD offers a combined degree where you get a civil engineering degree and degree in architecture. Math is completely different. You do learn a lot harder math in uni, but the problems you do in math...

    tension question help

Let \theta be the acute angle between the rope and the pipe, and T be the tension in each rope. Summing vertical forces, you get: 2T\sin\theta=mg Hence, T is inversely proportional to \sin\theta. As you reduce the length of the rope, the \theta reduces, and hence \sin\theta reduces. Thus, T...

    BoS Maths Trials 2019

Dunno, doubt it based on account creation date. Also the response post to the question doesn't really make any sense, sounds more like a joke so I don't think it was intended to be rude. Either way, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. and assume we've all moved past it. Besides, too busy to...

    Personal statement - HSC 2019

All g 👍 I wasn't offended (since your offences weren't really directed at me), but appreciate you owning up to it nonetheless, particularly for John1201. Still a little bit surprised by your ATAR estimates since I thought you were just trolling before, but everyone has a right to their own opinion.

    Is this plagiarism in HSC?

Yeh memorising and quoting essays aren't illegal, since it's not a take home assessment. Go ham.

    Extension 1 Question

That should be ok (check with your teachers to be sure), as long as you remember to increase the lower limit in the summation by 1. e.g. \frac{d}{dx}\sum_{k=0}^nx^k = \sum_{k=1}^nkx^{k-1} Likewise, if you integrate the sum, you need to change the limits accordingly.

    ATAR Estimate

Not gonna get into ATAR estimating. But I genuinely found it funny how you're going ham across the board, made me chuckle lol.

    Pressure Problem

I felt the same way during my engineering degree - materials was the most boring part since it felt like rote learning. Really enjoyed the fluids part though, which is why I chose to specialise in that area. It's also one of the most critical yet most poorly understood fields, so there's a lot...

    Pressure Problem

@StudyOnly It's pretty cool that you get to learn this stuff. Just looked at the syllabus, and I'm guessing this is part of the aeronautical engineering module?

    Pressure Problem

I'm not too sure which equations you learn or what subject this is for, but here it goes. I'm assuming that no water is flowing out, so that the water in the dam is in hydrostatic equilibrium. As a result, we can use the hydrostatic equation: p=p_0 + \rho g h where p_0=101.325~\mathrm{kPa} is...

    UNSW OR UTS??

That depends on what type of engineering you want to do. In terms of the 9 month internship, it is usually a good thing, since there's a good chance that they'll give you a job offer afterward (assuming you weren't incompetent). However, if your not interested in that (or if your job sucks)...
