Medical Science at UNSW or USyd?

Med Sci is a lie and a joke, it honestly is ONLY good for those looking at post grad courses in medicine, pharmacy etc; or for those that are willing to take the risk of trying to find employment in academia upon completing a PhD. If you are already stuck half way through med sci, I'd advise...

    Martial Arts/Body Training

Boxing / kickboxing (NOT those boxercise classes they offer at most gyms) You can learn the basic combos and footwork in 3 - 6 months, as well as build up enough cardio to begin sparring. For personal protection boxing ranks very high (possibly only rivaled by krav maga or other systems that...

UNI life is sooo boring, is this the same for you?

Do a year of uni over in the states :D - Change your bluetooth to match the description of another guy in the lecture theatre e.g. 'Guy with blue adidas shirt' then send creepy msgs to other ppl in the theatre who have bluetooth on. - Find out where Michael Peters is holding his Gen Ed...

ITT things that make you face palm at the gym.

Top of my list: - Guys that load up a heap of weight on the bar, but then only do 1/4 depth squats - Guys that pose in front of the mirror in between sets - People that shadow box in-between sets - Girls that use the 1kg dumb bells to do sets of 50 bicep curls, because if they use any heavier...

St. Vinnies is cool, I did a clinical internship there.

    MBBS at UNSW

I think (cbf checking) that the 4 year program at Usyd is a trimester where you basically don't stop for 4 years. Personally I like RPA better than Prince of Wales, but that doesn't have much to do with education quality.

    MATH1041 - Statistics

Very easy course, but important in understanding and interpreting data you will read in scientific journals.

    Why the hate on pharmacy?

It's better than the research alternative I promise you: I don't care how tough you think pharmacy hours are, research is longer and harder, 8am - 10pm days aren't uncommon and that is 10 - 14 hours of constant calculations, performing experiments, analyzing data etc. I'd much prefer to be...

    Would you rather be..

Unfortunately the insane contact hours I'm doing for honours has made it impossible to do jiu jitsu more than once a week (on Saturday), which at $70 a fortnight isn't worth it. So I've quit and gone back to the unigym the last 2 months; I'm up to 83kg in weight and most lifts are reaching PR...

you are at uni and where?

Wallace Wurth 215, all day everyday. Lol, I remember having to walk up and down levels of the library to find a desk to study at around mid semester exams and end of semester time.

    med at UNSW

They aren't that bad, and it's not like it overly matters for med students, as those courses really only serve the purpose of providing some background knowledge for when they start interning / learning how to really be a doctor.

    Caffeine Water?!?

My mate has cartons upon cartons of caffeine water and creatine water in his garage (probably several 1000 bottles). A Japanese company made them and imported a container ship of them to Australia, but then went bankrupt and didn't have the money to ship them back to Japan so they just gave it...

Can we have a sub forums for anything related to UMAT?

My UMAT days are long over, if you'd read my post you'd see that I was refering to the year 12 students who come on these boards asking the same questions over and over again in relation to the UMAT.

    Help with literature review?

Depends on the word count. I've just completed my honours literature review, at 3000 words I've dedicated roughly 500-600 to background info.

    What have you eaten today?

Not enough..... Being out of a job is killing me, and the parents are constantly on my back about how much food I eat when it is mainly just eggs, milk, pasta and chicken breast; all of which cost less than the assortment of smith chips, cocopop bars and coloured popcorn that they buy for my...
