    Ext 2 textbook

I would recommend new senior maths . I've seen all the textbooks and used them. Cambridge would be my next choice , followed by terry Lee. Cambridge has a very nice structure (questions get harder slowly) Terry Lee has a range of questions with worked solutions but some questions are...

    Sy123s compilation

http://community.boredofstudies.org/14/mathematics-extension-2/294872/hsc-2014-4u-marathon-advanced-level.html Sy123 Was awesome enough to compile the 2014 marathon questions into one document Does anyone have such documents for the other years? (3U and/or 4U) P.S. : does that dropbox...

Hey all, If any of you remember any weird, tricky, interesting or challenging questions from Inverse(functions/trig) and Binomial theorem, can you please post them here Fanks

    Confused

Hey all Spoke to academic advisor She said EVERYONE in my school gets a NOTIONAL band 6 (Is that E3 and E4?) My rank is 38/53 But my school got 22 band 6's last year (Topscores.info) What does all of this mean in terms of my HSC mark? Lets say I was about to enter a number into an...

Do we need to memorise this identity?

Went in balls deep Didn't seem too bad unless I screwed up completely LOL

Do we need to memorise this identity?

Are the t-formula results ever 'unavoidable' (I know that theoretically they are obviously unavoidable, but sitting in the middle of a 4U hsc exam is it still feasible to avoid them?)

Do we need to memorise this identity?

Thanks paradoxica I personally prefer the trig substitution But jeez that method is also very quick :D

Do we need to memorise this identity?

Thankyou once again Integrand You legend Was wondering how I can stop leeching off the BOS community and give something back LOL Probably not in the maths section, will look forward to helping out the physics and chemistry students tho :D (after hscs :awesome:)

Do we need to memorise this identity?

Ohh ok - Will make sure to remember that :) Teacher told me its not a standard integral, so its best to use t-formula If you dont mind, can you show me how I can finish off the solution from \\ I = \frac{1}{a}ln(tan\frac{\theta}{2}) + C Given t=tan(theta/2) (just curious thats all)

Do we need to memorise this identity?

Seem to be getting \frac{1}{a}\int{\frac{1}{sin\theta}} Any way I can avoid half angle results? See attached images in my previous post (sorry I understand my explanation of my issue is not too great)

Do we need to memorise this identity?

Could derive it, but imagine me sitting in the 4U trials thinking x=tan(theta) t=tan(theta/2) "Oh boy better derive that weird squareroot cosine formula!!" haha so is there any clue in the question or solution that allows me to conclude that formula is needed Assuming I do derive this in the...

Do we need to memorise this identity?

So my qs is put tan(theta/2) in terms of x where x=tan(theta)

Do we need to memorise this identity?

Sorry, I did substitute x=atan(theta) Identity is give here https://www.quora.com/How-could-one-probe-that-the-square-root-of-1-cosx-1+cosx-absolute-value-of-tan-x-2

Do we need to memorise this identity?

    Solving the following integral: \\\int{\frac{dx}{x\sqrt{a^2+x^2}}}\\$ I now have $ I=\frac{1}{a}ln(tan\frac{\theta}{2}) $ which is correct $\\ \\ $To bring back the 'x' do I need the tan(x/2) = sqrt()/sqrt() result , I think its Cosine in the brackets?$\\ $Any other way to do it?$ I subbed...
