does ur school rank really affect ur mark?

Yep, very true. The atmosphere will just make you want to work harder that at a normal school

    Math extension1- massive class size

Is it all relavent to what you have to learn? You have 23, I've heard of a school with just 3. I dont think it really matters, except now you can miss class and the difference wont be all that noticable to the teacher, as opposed to a class where there are 5 students

wanting to do higher maths 1A

I'd say try Higher maths since I think you can drop down in the first couple of weeks if you find it too hard anyway. This way you will know for sure that higher maths was an error But I've also heard that the standard maths course is challenging in itself

    Lost

Re: Lost - Discuss Future Episodes Here! ummm... you might want to make sure you're watching Lost, and not like, uh, porn. Episode 4: seems like more on screen time is being devoted to the Oceanic 6 rather than the survivors. But its all good And what about Rousseau? Seems like Lost is...

    Need advice on school changing

Go to the selective school. As already said, if you maintain your effort you should get the same marks. But just being around smart people who work harder than normal students will itself make you do more work and put in more effort, its just the better atmosphere. so definately go selective

    should i drop mathematics?

Keep it, General maths isnt even real maths in Uni. Any courses that require HSC mathematics as assumed knowledge also state that general maths isnt good enough. So in truth, doing general maths would be more of a waste of time that doing 2u maths

    Kingship in Sparta

I picked up the Brennen book on Sparta a few weeks before my HSC and tbh it wasnt that good. It was all this extra stuff that I hadnt even heard of and all of these sources and evidence, which from studying sparta i know there is very little of. So doing sparta by working through evidence doesnt...

    Ancient History Investigation Assignment

Yea thats the rule, but you can. About half of my class did Roman Entertainment, which is almost identical to the section in Pompeii for the HSC. Just as long as you dont make it super obvious you should be fine. eg, if you were to do housing, do not do "Housing in Pompeii". Instead, make...

How do know whatether element emits beta radiation?

from memory, everything above Bismuth, atomic number 81 I think, is unstable and will emit particles. There is a nice diagram in chem contexts I believe that clearly shows what particle an atom will emit at what atomic weight. there is like this zone of stability and anything not in that is...

    11 or 13 units?

Lol, if you want to drop a subject, they cant force you keep it, no matter how well you are doing. And ofcourse if that doesnt work, just muck around in class, play with your pen or do other schoolwork. If you get sent away to the principals office or vice prince for your behaviour then just...

To drop or not to drop?

Dont drop, just put in more effort and do some more work. The difference between doing very little and doing the amount of work your peers are doing is honestly not that much. If you spend one night a week on EE2 and a few hours on the weekend youd be doing very well and if you do put in the...

    Federer end of an era?

Actually I think the difference between now an a few years ago is just the confidence and belief in other players. A couple years ago, the presence of federer on the other side of the net was just far too overwhelming for many players. And it still is to an extent, eg Berdych in the final few...

    The 3 Science questions

LOL, well trust me when I say there is a biochem topic for chem. After all, I did it in my HSC ;) Its a very uncommon course though, info is only in a few textbooks and concepts are somewhat difficult so perhaps your school just doesnt want to have to teach it because it would be a struggle...

[09 Yr 11 Advanced- Changing Self] Please recommend some texts (novels)!!

just a tip, dont ever do harry potter, twilight or anything that is popular, firstly cause too many other people will do it, and do it poorly, so you will be steroetyped immediately by the marker, even a fair marker. and 2ndly, you have read/watched these texts from a viewpoint of entertainment...

are afternoon and night classes usually a lot smaller?

lol, now I am dying to know just how long, far and wide you have searched to make that comment at the right moment? regarding the thread. isnt there a capacity for each tutorial, even the night ones. so morning, noon or night, it will probably be the same amount of people in the actual class

    Number sense learning at schools

id have to agree, not just with number sense, but with the mathematical levels in australia as a whole. I've been told stories of children from overseas countries like India who are mathematically years ahead of us, eg, they are learning algebra and calculus a few years before ours kids do. I...
