Highest General Mark?

The top aligned mark (i.e. the mark reported by the Board) was 100. :) The top scaled mark (i.e. the mark that contributes to your UAI) was 89.2.

    just a lil reminder =]

Is it just me, or is the milliseconds counter broken? Why does the last digit move slower than the two before it? (It seems to move at almost the same speed as the seconds counter.) I like it, though. Maybe we should ask the owner for permission to use it. It really helps you to feel...

    Star Wars 3 premiere

Geez... stories of that particular event seem to have travelled a lot further than I thought they would. Ironically, I'm actually not much of a Star Wars fan. :)

Well, actually, it could take a very long time for you to have an application approved... depending on whether or not you're a suitable candidate. But it should be determined in a matter of days. :)

    aligned HSC mark?

Your query has previously been addressed here. You won't know your aligned HSC marks until you receive your HSC results. You'll have to predict them in the meantime. I suggest you refer to the Technical Arcana forum for further details.

To be approved or to be determined? :) Patience is a virtue.

    State Rankings

Moderated assessment marks are rarely integers. This usually only occurs in the cases of the top and bottom students. This is not how the moderating algorithm works - though it provides a rough approximation. The whole of the distribution of examination marks obtained by the class is taken...

    IT scaling in hsc course

Whilst this is true, it is very difficult to use your school assessment marks to predict whether or not you'll achieve a Band 5/6 result in the end. Consult with your teacher. If you're aiming for a UAI of 90+, you'll generally need at least a high Band 5 result.

    only person enrolled?

Yes, this is correct. Though if some sort of tragedy occurred on the day of the examination and you were forced to appeal on the basis of illness or misadventure, your raw school assessment mark might still be considered.

F6: If a student who was ranked first internally also achieved the highest examination mark for their centre, and there were no appeals on the basis of illness or misadventure, their raw HSC mark would be an integer. D5: The student achieved a raw HSC mark of 83/84. (From D3, F6.) D6: The...

    Scaling of SOR

The chart is available here: http://www.boredofstudies.org/scaledmeans.php It doesn't have the 2004 data yet, but there aren't really any differences anyway. You can see that the two SOR courses have in fact always been scaled positively.

I have been unable to reproduce this error. Could you please describe the steps that you followed before the error appeared - had you added or deleted any courses, or entered marks and then removed those marks, etc?

This is intended as a response to Captain pi. I don't expect others to necessarily be able to follow this post. All comments refer to the Mathematics Extension 1 candidature of 2004. Assumptions

A1: The student in question received an aligned examination mark of...

    That's pretty much right. :)

    State Rankings

I said "raw HSC mark", not "raw examination mark". The raw HSC mark is the average of the total weighted mark and the initial moderated assessment mark. The rankings are based on this combined mark, which is not necessarily an integer.
  18. Lazarus

    State Rankings

The rankings are determined from raw HSC marks calculated to one decimal place. A student with a reported HSC mark of 100 (but with a raw mark less than 100%) would miss out on the top 10 if there were 10 students ranked above that student according to raw marks.
