    Re: HSC 2014 2U Marathon I think it's meant to be 342390 (you didn't divide by 3)

    Complex Root of Unity questions!!

Yeah when you work out the roots of z^6-1 = 0 you pretty much get 1, (alpha), (alpha)^2 ,(alpha)^3....(alpha)^5 as the roots where alpha is a complex root with the smallest positive argument use S.O.R of the polynomial which is 1+(alpha)+(alpha)^2 + (alpha)^3....(alpha)^5 =-0/1 = 0

    Complex Root of Unity questions!!

for 3 I'd use sum of the roots of the polynomial

    Complex Root of Unity questions!!

    For 2a \\ \\ $since w is a root of$ \ z^3-1 =0 \ \ then \ \ w^3 - 1 = 0 \Rightarrow \ \ w^3 = 1 \\ \\ \frac{a+bw+cw^2} {c + aw + bw^2} = \\ \\ w^2(\frac{a+bw+cw^2}{aw^3+bw^4+cw^2}) = \\ \\ w^2(\frac{a+bw+cw^2}{a+bw+cw^2}) = w^2

good at maffs, bad at exams.

Have a good sleep, eat well before the exam :) And just try and stay calm (I know it's easier said than done, but it's the best way to think clearly)

    HSC 2014 MX2 Marathon (archive)

    Re: HSC 2014 4U Marathon Yeah sorry that's not right at all I'll let P be point (Xo,Yo) $Tangent of P is$ \ \ y - y_0 = x_0(x-x_0) \\ $Sub x = 0 and B is point (0,y_0-(x_0)^2))$ \\ \therefore\ AB = 1-(y_0-(x_0)^2) \\ \\ $Note that$ \ \ y_0 = \frac{(x_0)^2+1}{2} \Rightarrow (x_0)^2 = 2y_0...

Re: HSC 2014 4U Marathon After fudging the algebra you get \\ y = \frac{x^2+1}{2} Then you realised that A is actually the focus of the parabola and B lies on the directrix, so therefore AB = PA from the focus directrix definition of the parabola. There fore the angles are equal as they are...

you didn't do jack shit m8 Anyways my quick review ENGG1811 (6-7/10) - Personally i'm bad at programming, the first half of the course is a bit of a bludge as it involves stuff with excel, but then the other contents like VBA and MAtlab are pretty hard, and you could get screwed if you don't...

Can anyone do this trial question?

    lel the complex roots are purely imaginary, so they're simply in the form bi ,-bi (b is real) $let the roots be$ \ \alpha \ bi, \ -bi \\ $using Product of roots you get$ \ \alpha(\beta)^2 = \frac{-10}{3} \\ $us sum of roots 2 at a time to get$ \ b^2 = 5 \\ \\ $sub that in previous equation...

Hey Ya I just had my final maths exam today, and some questions rekt me hard lol, and ODE (ordinary differential equation) question and a weird limit one $Suppose that y satisfies the initial value problem$ \\ \frac{dy}{dx} + y^2 = cos(x) \ \ with \ \ y(0) = 0 \\ $find the first non-zero...
