How many hours should I be studying?

Your weekdays looks good, maybe filter in some more time for personal care e.g. reading or exercise The tutoring on the weekend, as most people have expressed, does look quite excessive. I would suggest cutting some back, as it is not necessary to achieve the greatest results. In my opinion...

Stationery/Organisation for Notes, Work and Sheets... (Year 11)

I used an exercise book for maths questions or blank paper (you dont need lines) I also used a small binder for lined paper for phys, chem, eng, eco and then emptied these into bigger subject specific folders at home

How do we stop these random accounts from being created and posting links to stream sites and whatever else? Is there something the community can do? P.S. I realise that the title of this thread is misleading, oops :(

    Prelim vs hsc

To add onto BLIT's response, 30% of preliminary material in MATHEMATICAL courses can be tested in the HSC exam. Preliminary content in other subjects, although it may be useful, cannot be directly assessed in the HSC exams.

    Excel study guide

Excel study guides across all subjects have a very nice layout and typeface, as Drongoski pointed out. Some have described the content across subjects such as physics and chemistry to be lacking, but overall they are a solid textbook. For maths, I feel as though they are kind of a waste. This...

Is 14 units too much? 0-0

I would suggest that 14 units is indeed too much although some students achieve it. I'd recommend seeing how you feel this year with the load, and drop your worst subject in regards to enjoyment, ranking and content :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    School B6's

If your schools receives little to no band 6's in the subjects you are doing, how does this affect the rank you need to achieve a 98+ ATAR, or a similar feat. The class sizes are relatively small as well. Generally below 12 students for most subjects (Excluding General maths and 2u maths, and...

How to manage stress during senior years?

Realisation, Organisation, prioritisation, action. Realisation - List what activities you need to get done each day, and for larger tasks, each week. It is also neat to make long term goals such as ATAR and university degree. Make them as detailed as you can, and put them on paper stuck on your...

    question about AOS essays

In past history, the HSC has only asked for 2 related texts once, being in 2008. Most years state "At least ONE" or "Only ONE." However, NESA is still capable of throwing a curve ball but I doubt their chances of asking for TWO related texts. To answer your original question, I am assuming that...

    Year 11 2018 Prelim

Damn you were up early this morning on BoS ahahah. Happy New Year! To answer your question, I believe you are correct, except I have been informed that the new Mathematics 2u, 3u, and 4u syllabus are being introduced for Yr 11 in 2019. Every other new syllabus is being introduced for Yr 11 in...

This guy has got an ATAR estimated at > 9.995, definitely worth looking into ;) All jokes aside, I have seen this BoS Member a lot on the forums and he gives some awesome advice. Would recommend :)

    Extra books for HSC study

Maths - Maths in Focus is a textbook that is not recommended by a lot of people as the questions are too segregated and do not prepare you well for exams. Additionally the explanations are quite lacklustre. I Would recommend Cambridge and Fitzpatrick as these are more detailed and combine...

    Induction Help

For the most part, you will need to select questions of BoS papers and THSC Trial papers. I doubt there will be a whole paper on purely Induction.

    Need help

Man I'm impressed by your aptitude already! I barely get through all the development questions, let alone the extension questions! For my school, I got 90%+ for all year 11 exams (2u, 3u) without being capable of any if not all ext questions. For yr12, my results have fallen to 80s but the...

    Books or binders?

Hey, I was in a similar boat when commencing yr 11, so I'll give you some tips that I learnt along the way. Staying physically organised - At school - I carried a single folder (2-Ring), and I used coloured tabs to differentiate between my different subjects. At home - - I had a separate...

How to thoroughly understand texts in English?

Spark notes. For Shakespeare, they have a "No Fear - Shakespeare" series of books (~$11.99) that have both the original English and a modern translation that makes a lot more sense. In general, they have a website is a range of analysis on characters, plots, themes, motifs etc within lots of...

Cambridge Checkpoints vs ATAR Notes book

I have the Atar Notes advanced English book and it is very detailed and well written! The Girls who wrote it got 100/100 (raw) for advanced and 100/100 (raw) for standard which is pretty legendary Here are some photos of the contents page so you know what's in the book [emoji4] Sent from...
