I used an exercise book for maths questions or blank paper (you dont need lines) I also used a small binder for lined paper for phys, chem, eng, eco and then emptied these into bigger subject specific folders at home

To add onto BLIT's response, 30% of preliminary material in MATHEMATICAL courses can be tested in the HSC exam. Preliminary content in other subjects, although it may be useful, cannot be directly assessed in the HSC exams.
