Learning tutor for 9 year old boy or 12 year old girl?

I'm looking for a tutor for 2 hours per week for an intelligent 9 year old boy and/or a 12 year old girl - I'm not really too fussed about the content, I'm looking for a tutor that can relate to 9-12 year olds, instill a love of learning and teach effective study techniques (for maths/english)...

Lowest target ATAR to get into postgrad medicine?

i’m asking for a friend with a kid (I’m a middle aged person). Agree best to aim for undergrad but I gather thatS extremely hard and takes a lot of work so won’t be attainable by many so just want to get an idea what the lower end of the ATAR range is (just good to have an idea of options) is...

Lowest target ATAR to get into postgrad medicine?

If you want to ultimately do postgraduate medicine what’s the lowest target ATAR to aim for? Is it basically around 92 so that you can get into a pre-Med degree like science or physio? Or can you get into post-grad medicine from any degree if you get good GAMSAT results? Thanks

in my mind I think of 99.95 as very different from 99+ as accomplishing 99.95 is a whole different level to 99.90 but regardless it’s interesting to hear about your presidents. I guess there are a small number of people who genuinely function at a much higher level than the rest of the population

I would've thought the 99.95ers would be worse at practical exams and surgery in general as they probably have worse hand eye coordination, having missed out on sports/computer gaming etc which their lower ATAR scoring peers were engaging in while the 99.95s were at tutoring? Also, if prac exams...

what are the differences in skillset between the 2 approaches? Surely the exceptional focus/determination/intelligience of someone capable of 99.95 would transfer over enough to do well in both?

Yes you are right I do have a concept of 99.95's as being extraordinary and I don't neccessarily agree that I'm blowing it out of proportion - the relevant proportion being that they are the 1 in 1200 to 1 in 1400 people who beat so many others trying extremely hard to attain the same goal...

Selective school kids- would you have got a lower ATAR at a non-selective school?

for those who went to or go to a selective school - do you think your ATAR was/will be higher than it would have been if you had gone to a non-selective school? - I have a friend wondering what to do with her kids aged 9 and 10 both very intelligent who are academically at/near the top of...

wow - so there’s actually no benefit of getting 99.95 apart from not having to compete for the Med spot later on?? presumably the kids that are good enough to get 99.95 would easily have gotten into Med later on anyway if haven’t got 99.95

Are most top ATAR scorers at private schools scholarship students, brought in to boost exam results?

I’m sure Sydney Grammar would be an exception as it’s selective so all the kids should do well and the existing students may include some that would have got a scholarship if they had applied at other schools. for the non-selective private schools I think A lot of patents will take academic...

So you’re saying there’s a Med class that has a group of 30 kids that scored 99.95? There must be some crazy competition and intellect in that class. is there any data available on what ultimately happens to all these 99.95 scorers ie what specialties do they end up doing and how do they...

what? I thought the whole point of getting 99.95 was to get into Usyd Med as an undergraduate and avoid needing to do a degree beforehand thus saving a few years- is that wrong? If so it seems like a total waste of time/life to get 99.95?

Are most top ATAR scorers at private schools scholarship students, brought in to boost exam results?

I’m wondering, as I have no knowledge about it, if most /nearly all of the top ATAR scores at elite private schools scored by students on academic scholarships or do non scholarship students ever get the top marks also? I presume private schools that offer academic scholarships do so to raise...

How fast can you answer this scholarship test question (intelligence?)
