Finance and financial economics major instead of finance and economics major??

Defs avoid financial economics if you're not mathematically inclined. I'd instead recommend business economics, which is also under the commerce stream.

    tips and resources for these subjects!!D;

FINS1613 I think Rob Tumarkin is still the LIC for 1613. If so, then definitely try to attend all lectures as his explanations are very clear and easy to understand. Also, I found that the lecture slides comprehensively covered all points, which made the textbook redundant.

    Resources/Tips for these subjects

ECON2101 - I used only the lecture slides and completed the tute questions for practise. You really don't require anything else (assuming the course content and assessment structure remain unchanged). ECON2206 - Certainly get the textbook - its comprehensive without being overly complex...

Can an Com/Law student with a 66 WAM get into Deloitte S&O or Big 4 Consulting.

Relax - I have plenty of mates working in Big 4 (Accounting and Banking) who finished in the mid 60's. You need a selling point that could come from your work experience and/or extra curricular activities.

    UNSW Subject Reviews.

ECON2101 Ease: 8.5/10 - I personally found this course fairly simple. Some of the concepts can be moderately difficult, but both the mid-sem and final are problem based, meaning that having a thorough understanding of the concepts is not necessary. Content: 7/10 - There's quite a bit of...

    UNSW Subject Reviews.

FINS3630 Ease: 7.5/10 - Quite an easy course; most concepts, such as duration and immunisation, have been introduced in earlier Finance courses. Content: 6.5/10 - The first half of the course is exceptionally boring, while the second half is fairly decent as the content is more concept...

Major + Minor for double degree students

Difficulty wise, I really don't think the assessments get much harder, at least for the corp. finance subjects like 3616 and ACF. Of course: a) Rob gave out free marks in 1613 - other lecturers won't be as kind; and b) for electives like Options, having a decent mathematical background will go...

Major + Minor for double degree students

hmmm, maybe you should do 1613 before making the swap to Finance. If you can handle 1613, then you'll be fine with most corp. finance electives.

Major + Minor for double degree students

IMO a minor in Finance would expand your career options, so definitely do it if you can. And the math in finance isn't hard at all if you stay away from the quantitative-based courses like Interest Rate Risk Management.

    economics major

If you're in the Commerce stream, I'd recommend Business Economics as that way you can avoid the econometrics-based subjects.

Are there really as many Asians in UNSW as everyone says there is?

UNSW certainly has good diversity; the idea that there are too many Asians is a misconception.

    Perdisco :(

ACCT1A has no Perdisco this sem ... so what are you guys doing Perdisco for?

    UNSW Chit Chat Thread

Re: UNSW Chit Chat Thread 2015. Joakim is excellent, but not sure if he's still with the uni. Henry Yip no longer takes 2624, so you don't need to worry about him just yet. (The difficulty of Henry's tests are overrated btw.) I personally found 2624 quite easy ... the math is simple if you...

    UNSW Chit Chat Thread

Re: UNSW Chit Chat Thread 2015. The two courses actually complement each other (to an extent), so it would be beneficial to take both courses in the same sem. Re Jason Zein (sem 1 LIC), he's quite good. Don't know about Natalie Oh.

I got 96 in the course, so may be able to assist depending on what you are seeking.

    need help!!

ECON1101 and ECON1203 - the easiest Commerce courses you could take (assuming you're decent at maths for the latter). Would also recommend PHYS1160 - workload is relatively high (at least for Comm subjects), but the free marks are aplenty.
