    How do you write your Mathematics notes?

    wow that's deep haha @OP, but like what others said, I don't think you need notes for most parts of maths and as for me, I never make notes. When learning a new concept, the first few questions may require you to look at the relevant formula/reasoning behind it, but as you do more questions...

    2016ers Chit-Chat Thread

    Well our teacher told us to write >1200 word essay with 8 paragraphs in total. Then she was like make it 800 cos the maximum they got was 900 words in 40 minutes. So instead of cutting it down, I just deleted 2 paragraphs, hope I can still write that in 40 mins lol

    2016ers Chit-Chat Thread

    Yup exactly like you, financial maths is agony for me. Even more than that is perms and combs (probability in general). Other than those two, the rest is pretty fine. Used to hate statistics and stuff, but good thing it's gone now lol

    Studying for physics olympiad

    haha unlucky it isn't for yr12 and yeah I glanced at one or two past papers and they all seem very challenging and fun, with one or two easy ones like pulleys and stuff. But my school doesn't bother teaching and preparing those who are doing it, so my best bet is doing the all the past papers in...

    So I heard that the physics Olympiad for yr 11 are really hard and tests the stuff that aren't even in the prelim and hsc course, if this is true then what's the best way to prepare and study for it other than the past papers? Any textbook recommendation? I'm also planning on doing the...

    HSC 2016 General Maths Marathon

    $ you can't really use the cosine rule here cause it's just a sector of a circle, not a triangle. Since you know the radius and the arc length, you can do this: $ \\ \\ \frac{\theta}{360}\cdot2\cdot \pi \cdot 6400=4170 \\ \\$ now if you solve for theta, you'll get $37^{\circ}

    Re: HSC 2016 2U Marathon $ let $ y=a^{a^{x}}, u=a^{x} \\ y=a^{u} \\ log(y) =ulog(a)\\ \frac{1}{y}\frac{dy}{du} = log(a) \\ \frac{dy}{du} = a^{a^{x}}log(a) \\ \\ log(u)=xlog(a)\\ \frac{1}{u}\frac{du}{dx}= log(a)\\ \frac{du}{dx}=a^{x}log(a) \\ \\ \therefore \frac{dy}{dx} = a^{a^{x}}log(a)\cdot...

    Do you regret any subjects that you did?

    Definitely regret picking up ancient history. Thought it's gonna be like learning about ancient Egypt, rome and stuff, but we just end up listning to the teacher talk about reliability, bias, contradictory sources etc. So boring lol, gonna drop it straight away after its topic test tomorrow.

    Re: MX1 Calculus Marathon 2016 y=7^{ln(x)} \\ ln(y)=ln(x)ln(7) \\ \frac{1}{y}\frac{dy}{dx} = ln(7)\frac{1}{x}\\ \frac{dy}{dx}=\frac{yln(7)}{x} \\ \frac{dy}{dx}= \frac{ln(7)7^{ln(x)}}{x} I'm not sure if this is the correct way of doing it though
