    Adam and Eve or Evolution?

Nope. To be honest, I ignored what chaldoking asked about 'information', because the way he was using it is meaningless in this context.

Large Hadron Collider - Death Threats

Just because we're smart, it doesn't mean we necessarily use it all that well. We're animals, and slaves to our instincts and evolutionary heritage.

What Will said. It happens all the time.

    Adam and Eve or Evolution?

You're right, the example of green budgies is not itself "evolution"; it is phenotypic plasticity, which is the variation of traits dependent on the environment. Phenotypic plasticity can lead to evolution. However, microevolution/gene variation is still evolution; it's just not macroevolution.

Repeat, go back to school. If that's too difficult, read these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macroevolution http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transitional_fossil http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_transitional_fossils And by the way, guys, we don't just rely on fossils. The genetic...

    Adam and Eve or Evolution?

We didn't come from monkeys. We share a common primate ancestor with other apes, and humans ourselves remain apes (the third species of chimpanzee, to be precise). Go back to school.

    Adam and Eve or Evolution?

As far as I'm aware, there's macroevolution (lots of evidence for that) and microevolution (which, as you say, there is evidence for as well). Feel free to enlighten me on the other five "types".

It's not that it didn't work; it sprung an expensive leak. You're awfully harsh on the most sophisticated and complex machine in the world, given they're still testing it.

    Adam and Eve or Evolution?

That old chestnut. "A theory is a logically self-consistent model or framework for describing the behavior of a related set of natural or social phenomena. It originates from or is supported by rigorous observations in the natural world, or by experimental evidence (see scientific method). In...

    Adam and Eve or Evolution?

Actually, no. Experiments are about disproving a single hypothesis (called falsificationist hypothesis testing). No. No they aren't (scientists), and no they didn't (find Noah's Ark). Actually, while flood myths are common in ancient cultures worldwide, they all appear to refer to...

    Adam and Eve or Evolution?

I don't give any credence to quotes taken out of context. And scientific journals published peer-reviewed science. They don't censor anything (heck, even Behe's been published, and he's a top-class idiot) because it generates debate and more research avenues; only when the method of research...

    Adam and Eve or Evolution?

Not sure what you mean by "7 types of evolution", but for both macro- and micro-evolution, there's hordes of the stuff.

    Adam and Eve or Evolution?

Jeez, you ask the easy questions, don't you? Evolution is the process of change in the inherited traits of a population of organisms from one generation to the next. This is driven by natural selection, sexual selection and genetic drift. Or you can go read the unsurprisingly accurate...

    Adam and Eve or Evolution?

If there was something, we have no idea what it was. And that's okay! We'll find out eventually! 400-odd years ago we didn't realise what gravity was. Imagine what we'll know in another 400! That's what I love about science: there's never an end of questions to ask, things to discover. The...
