    Parametrics Help

Try reading the proofs for the tangents, normals and chords I guess just remember the steps required to get to the certain form, the rest is just coordinate geometry stuff and algebra. If that isn't the advice u were looking for, then keep practicing questions and ask someone to assist you. If...

    Catholic studies or SOR?

Try SOR first. Although you may not put any effort into it, you may find it interesting or better than another subject you take and may save ur ATAR if you get stuff up in another subject. If you're doing really good in all of your other subjects in prelim, you can just drop to Catholic studies

Drop English Extension or completely drop Maths?

Do your maths homework and then you should probably keep maths. If your marks for Eng and Maths are similar and you don't even try in maths, you may actually do well if u do try. And since you wanna do a science course, maths would probably be a better choice (all of this is my opinion ofc...

    Subjects

It's definitely manageable. Don't give up on the first 3U content you get exposed to. If it really confuses you, make sure you get it sorted out but once you understand it and practice by doing questions from text book or past papers, you should be fine. If not, you can always drop back to 2U...

Business studies or Biology? NEED HELP ASAP

Business studies is quite enjoyable to be honest. Both subject is heavy content but in Business you won't need to remember those massive biology terms ;)

    Parametrics Problem

you can go down this path too: skipped to: x^2 + 4px - 4p^2 = 0 (scroll up to check how I got here) using the sum of roots (Alpha + Beta): A + B = -b/a = -4p / 1 = -4p This means that one of the roots plus the other one of the roots equal to -4p. So, the roots = x, therefore...

    Mathematics vs. MX1

Try extension 1. getting over 90% in year 10 will not mean you will succeed in ext 1 maths but it is a good starting point. you should do good in 2U but ext 1 is another leap. You should be able to cope with the extra amount of study if you really tried. Just make sure you attempt harder...

    Repeating year 11?

Well yes but if he missed out on a lot of prelim, having to study the prelim topics aren't gonna be easy. Back to j12onuzim, if you are actually pretty confident with maths and you think you can catch up and able to study the stuff you missed out on, then don't repeat.

    Repeating year 11?

If you missed out a lot of prelim maths, then... do give it a consideration. Since prelim maths will pop up again in the HSC. I don't know how desperate you are but I personally wouldn't repeat.

    Help with subject selections please

Ext 1 Math It can seem really hard at first but if dedicate some time for study and get help from teachers, friends, tutor etc, it get a lot easier. Don't think about dropped after the first month or so, or your first 3U exam. Adv Eng Basically just a deeper understanding of texts. Practice...

    Subject Selection

Prelim's work load is A LOT, to prepare you for the HSC. If you want to dedicate equal amount of work to each subject and expect to do very well in all of them, it would be very difficult in my opinion. However, if you believe that you can cope with a lot of work and if you're fairly talented...

    Simplifying trig

    2pi = 360 pi = 180 So Sin(pi - theta) = sin(180 - theta) which equal to sin(theta) tan(2pi - x) = tan (360 - x ) Which equal to -tan x Etc.

    Parametrics Problem

    The way I did it took awhile but: Using P(2p , -p^2) on the parabola x^2 = -4y: dy/dx = x^2/-4 =2x / -4 m = 2(2p) / -4 = -p Get the equation of the tangent which is: y = -px +p^2 ..... (1) y = x^2 / 4 ..... (2) (this is just x^2 = 4y rearranged) Solve it Simultaneously to get...

    What is Physics like?

I personally don't like physics. I do regret taking it up and the only reason I did pick it was because I did ext.1 maths and thought it would help me. It didn't :P Maybe take a look at the topics in prelim physics, borrow a textbook or something and just have a look over it and decide whether...

    subject selection - any advice??

If you're "decent" in maths in a very competitive school, give 3u maths a go. However, Business would be a safe option as it's easier since it's just memorising the content. I personally would pick Ext.1 Maths over business. Especially when you want to do architecture. I'm doing both and I...

Already regretting my subject choices for next year... 5 HOURS AFTER I HANDED MY FORM

Re: Already regretting my subject choices for next year... 5 HOURS AFTER I HANDED MY Physics in prelim is a lot harder than what I've experienced with science from year 7-10. There was a massive jump in the level of difficulty in my opinion, most of the top science students in my year group...
