    Differentiation Question

Odd, \boldmath doesn't work on the forums. I will investigate this matter further. Edit: It appears the forums is using some strange version of LaTeX... give me some time lol. Edit 2: \pmb{} works, but it makes it UBER bold and ugly. Let me try and find a working normal bold font on this forum...

    Differentiation Question

Well, op asked for an explanation, so he got one xD Sometimes worded explanations can make more sense than hundreds of mathematical examples lol.

    Differentiation Question

    How I was taught to do these is simply just take the derivative of what's inside the brackets, put it outside, and then know what the derivative of the trig function is. eg Sin -> Cos, Cos -> -Sin and so on. \frac{d}{dx}[\sin(3x+1)]={3\cos(3x+1)}

    The Math Project

Still looking for anyone that's willing to assist with categorising the questions. I'm starting work on the 2015 HSC exam tomorrow, so if anyone wants to get started on 2014 or the other exams, feel free. Basically all you've gotta do is take each question and mark what topic(s) it's assessing...

    HSC 2016 Maths Marathon (archive)

Re: HSC 2016 2U Marathon To my knowledge, no. It's taught half way through MX1. (Depending on teacher).

    The Math Project

I have a book that does this. However I have a feeling we need something a little more current, this'll also cover the multiple choice stuff as well (Which can be quite tedious for some). Also Dan I am well aware of your site, and the resources you have. Once this is completed, I certainly...

    The Math Project

Ok, so after extensive research and whatnot, I have found that there are few notes on the web that are free, and cover ALL topics for HSC and Preliminary Mathematics. With this in mind, I have begun learning the syntax of LaTeX, with the intention of going through past papers from the last...

    pre 2001 HSC chemistry exams

I believe so. Physics also underwent some serious changes around that time (2002 I believe).

    Advanced Calculators

So? Just means the calculator spits out the graph. It's what someone would do in a real life situation, in a job. I cannot think of a circumstance where if a computer is able to do something, that a person would want to do it. It's wasting time. Anything that computers are able to do, can be...

    Advanced Calculators

Hey Guys, I'm itching to ask. Why the hell does BOSTES ban the use of graphing calculators, when they're allowed in all manner of other countries?? I would assume Universities don't really care about using one or not, because seriously, we live in a society where people don't NEED to remember...

    2016ers Chit-Chat Thread

The image was pretty good lol. I talked about how discovering flowers growing on the moon would be a massive scientific revelation (If we hypothetically did find flowers there), but also talked about how the Universe is filled with things we don't yet know, and we're constantly making...

    Year 10 hsc subjects!!!!

^^^ This. ESPECIALLY if you're looking into pharmaceuticals. Chemistry will set you up in biology as well, because you'll have a greater understanding of the underlying chemistry that powers enzymes, which you'll study in Biology. (Among other topics). Chem + Bio = good combo for medicine tbh...

    2016ers Chit-Chat Thread

You got the CSSA paper too... The poem was painful lol. Everything else was ok though. I totally just winged my creative writing story, even though I really know I shouldn't have. But our exam was weighting like 5% (Paper 1), and Paper 2 has 15%. So I really thought screw it, idc about Paper 1...

    Mathematics... I'm struggling.

I've got my hands on a 2U 2nd Edition Fitzpatrick textbook (only got it today when I got home, after I'd written this thread). The exercises look much better, and there's far less sub-questions, which is great. MIF tends to have like 20-24 sub-questions in the first question, and it's really...

    Mathematics... I'm struggling.

While the title is the biggest understatement of the year, the concept still applies. But here's what really makes me :mad3: Our school uses the Maths In Focus textbook, and I completed all the questions in the exercises from the HSC Trigonometric Functions, and had a topic test on it. One of...
