Legal Framework of Employment - The Employment Contract

Rights and obligations of employers and employees refer to things such as duty of care, acting with skill, acting in good faith, etc. They would expect you to know about some of the existing employment relations legislation, but with the introduction of the Fair Work Act, I highly doubt it will...

how do you study for the extended responses?

A case study is basically a report on a real-life business. There are heaps of people doing them on Qantas. I suggest you grab a copy of a case study from the resources section of this website, cause you won't get above band 3 for your extended if you do not use a case study.

how do you study for the extended responses?

Well earlier, I made notes on both case studies under syllabus dot points, and for the past few hours I've been going through them (and posting on BOS).

    Persperctives on Conflict

Unitary - Employers and employees work 'hand in hand' in order to achieve common goals. I.e. a win/win situation. Any disagreements here are viewed as temporary. Pluralist - Recognises that employers and employees have differing interests and that conflict is a legimitate outlet. This...

Would Mcdonalds have a geocentric or polycentric staffing system?

Quoted from 'Business Studies in action, HSC 3rd edition', Chapman et al: "A polycentric approach to staffing is one in which personnel from the host country manage the subsidiaries, while the parent company personnel fill the key roles at company headquarters." "A geocentric approach to...

    Picking up English EXT1

Yeah, you should probably pick it up. Has decent scaling, much more interesting than Advanced and given your past performance, you should be able to do well in it too. Also, it'll help with your Advanced course.

    financial planning cycle - remembering

I did it the hard way by memorising. After 20 mins or so it becomes second nature. But don't stress too much about it, it doesn't seem a major part.

    Fair Workplace Act 2009

Given all this change regarding employment relations legislation, I doubt there will be that much on ER legislation, maybe just more on effective employment relations.

    Another MC....

Answer should be C. The question clearly states gaining "acceptance in a competitive market quickly", i.e. market share, with prices lower than the competition, which is price penetration. Competition pricing is just based on prices of other competitors, and can involve setting prices lower or...

Raw Hsc mark for a band 5 Business studies

Well, a band 5 refers to getting 80-89, but that's the final HSC mark, not the raw mark. So you could get anything from the 70s - high 90s and still get a band 5, depending on your internal assessment mark.

    how are you's feeling?

He means the 'Ethical and legal aspects' on Business Management and Change, Financial Planning, Marketing, ER and Global Business. So basically it's things on inappropiate cut-off periods, deceptive advertising, unfair dismissal, tax havens and transfer pricing.

Business studies - HSC 2009 predictions

Re: What question do you think we will get in the 2009 HSC Paper in Section 4? It's most likely not going to be on ER, due to all this ER stuff happening (phasing out of WorkChoice, introduction of Fair Work Act, etc.) I'll hazard a guess on Marketing/Financial and Global Business.

Section III is the stimulus response, so you won't need it. You need it for section IV though.

I didn't speak Chinese for YEARS Should I do Background Speaker?

Probably not, but that depends on your previous knowledge of Chinese, and how much of it you can still remember. I've heard that its bloody hard, and doesn't scale that well either.

    Marketing Plan???

Well this is going to be included in a stimulus response question, if you have to develop a marketing plan for a specific product given in the scenario. For the extended, you will only have to describe/evaluate/whatever the marketing plan of a business in relation to your case study businesses.
