HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

I'm actually really surprised that there was no ATSI question. My teacher was telling us the whole year of how an ATSI question will pop up:confused:

Definitely got 2 for that pH question, don’t remember the 10.4 :)

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

Hmmm, might be the case but we don’t know for sure in terms of the state. Some of the calculations were a bit complex EG finding Cu2+ and Pb2+, where we had to find the absorption, then concentration, then convert it to ppm (mg L-1). Some kids would have never done this kind of thing before so...

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

Probably physics, if you put effort into understanding the content it’s really rewarding😁. Unlike English of course.

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

Same here, a very manageable paper. There was one question where we had to compare the effect of enthalpy and entropy on the solubility of two compounds that threw me off, but other than that, it was pretty decent!

    Physics Predictions/Thoughts

Yeah true, I think a lot of graphs are gonna be involved as well as a skill focus. Me too, until chemistry is finished, I'm probably not going to do anything. I plan on writing plans and memorising content for potential 8-9 markers, as well as finish the atar notes topic tests. If time is left...

    New Syllabus Chemistry Textbook Suggestions

I would actually recommend against buying the dot-point textbook. Some questions are repetitive and simple imo, and have not been of great use to me. The excel study guide, success one past paper book (2019) and others are really good, as it has questions specifically suited to the style of the HSC.

Chemistry New Syllabus Advice / Sample Answers by an Experienced HSC Tutor

This is a very valuable thread, bookmarking for later :) What topics do you think will be potential 8-9 mark questions in this year's hsc? I know this is a big ask, but it would be helpful for me and others for preparation:).

English Advanced Paper 2 Exam Thoughts

Decent but rushed mod c, I think mod c will drag my overall mark down a lot

HSC Standard/Advanced Paper 1 Exam Thoughts

The answer is we don't know. They could tell us to explore a certain concern in one of our prescribed texts or give a stimulus for us to write about. The stimulus itself would most probably be a quote of 1-2 lines, could be more.

HSC Standard/Advanced Paper 1 Exam Thoughts

I honestly don't know. I did integrated paragraphs, so two poems per paragraph, focusing on a specific theme. To be honest, as long as you did those three poems you should be good. I twisted my themes to fit the aspect of ageing, but I feel they were a bit dodgy.

HSC Standard/Advanced Paper 1 Exam Thoughts

I agree, I think my nervousness contributed to me scrambling for the unseen text section. I did Rosemary Dobson poetry, and I had to adapt my prepared stuff to this, so I don’t know how I’ll go. Honestly hope I’ll get between 75-85, although I have a feeling I will get high seventies. Who knows...

How is everyone attacking Mod C?

I have just made notes on the plot and stylistic devices of my prescribed texts for module C, and then practice questions from various sources such as matrix, the art of smart and so on. I find that it's just a case of adapting your whole answer to the stimulus of the question if they give you...
