I think I may have caused a bit of confusion.
The HSC marks you receive are marks that fit performance bands that describe typically what a student knows, understand and can do.
More information can be found here.

This is one of the many reasons raw marks are not publically released. There will be a lot of confusion as to what the marks mean.
I really wouldn't try to worry too much about something like that.
Yes they are usually lower.
Have a read of the technical arcana forum in the "Board reveals raw marks" thread to get an idea of the how much difference a raw mark can change after the aligning process.
The UAC uses the raw HSC mark, which is not publically available unless requested under the Freedom of Information Act.
These raw marks are scaled by the UAC, and the aggregate of your best 10 units are taken and a UAI is created.
The marks you received today are not used in the process...
Last day to change your preferences to be considered for the main round - 5th January - Thursday
UAI Cut-offs are published and can be accessed on the 18th of January. Though I remember the cut-offs were published a bit earlier - If you are lucky :)
Tomorrow you get:
* HSC Assessment mark
* HSC Exam mark
* HSC Mark - The average of the HSC assessment mark and the HSC exam mark.
In order to use SAM effectively, yes you input your HSC mark.
The HSC marks are now upon you! How did you go?
Please try to keep on topic and post your HSC marks and suitable comments to go with it only.
Thanks and Goodluck!
Don't worry, a 9/100 would require a huge amount of effort into putting no effort to get that mark :)
I'm sure you'll all be fine. Try and not think about it or at least find something to distract you with. Relax in the beach or something.
The booklet was designed to help understand what...
If person A and B studied the same subjects AND received the same HSC marks. Then their raw marks will also be equal. Meaning they will attain the same UAI.
Remember that they use raw moderated school assessment marks.
lol tonberry.
I would have preferred your fail marks than have my two 49's, when i was soooo close to passing. Especially when im 2 marks off my WAM for a PC in both.
I'd rather have failed miserably.
