Wasn't sure where to post this.... having a conversation with a friend about degrees/where they can lead, I remember my year adviser talking about some site that gives you infomation about what jobs certain degrees can lead to and first year pay, highest level pay etc. Any ideas?

Yeah, you're much better off identifying sophisticated and complex techniques as it impresses markers who see 'simile' and 'dialogue' all day.

it's a technique, just most teachers see it as a 'lazy' technique, like similes.

Descriptive language is definitely a technique, though in most cases it's better to identify it as "X imagery". You can add pathetic fallacy to the list too.
