AC induction motors

    When you get down to it a normal motor's uses the same effect as an induction motor, it's the different things that move. Moving charges around in a magnetic field (current in a wire) == 'moving' magnetic fields around stationary charges (induction). It's the same effect, just in a different...

    Projectile Motion HELP!

    It's combines the two steps, i.e. finding the time and calculating the distance, into one step. x=ucosθ t v<sub>y</sub>=u<sub>y</sub>-gt t=2.u<sub>y</sub>/g=2.usinθ/g. .'. x = 2u<sup>2</sup>cosθ.sinθ/g = u<sup>2</sup>sin(2θ )/g.

    Integration Question

    Be careful in the last bit for future reference, you should write that you checked both square roots, since you used the relation u2=t+2 and not u=sqrt(t+2). The positive one is the only correct one that yields the derivative.

    integration question

    You can use (ampersand)theta(semi-colon) for easier reading... do a replace function in wordpad. I've converted it just then, you guys should check the very last part as an exercise, i.e. S sin2θcos4θdθ. The rest is clean. I=S sin6θ dθ =S...

    Induction --> inequalities

    If you want to justify 2k² > 2k + 1: Consider 2k<sup>2</sup> - 2k - 1. = (k-1)<sup>2</sup> + k<sup>2</sup> - 2. Note (k-1)<sup>2</sup> >= 0 always, & k<sup>2</sup> - 2 > 0 for k >= 2 .'. 2k<sup>2</sup> - 2k - 1 > 0 for k >=2, (by above note) .'. 2k² > 2k + 1. btw, that would be the way...

    Mathematical Induction -- Sigma Notation

    Give an exmaple... you're in principle supposed to remove the extra k+1 term from the sum of k terms, then substitute your assumption... After that you may be able to rearrange some factors. It depends on the question.

    AC induction motors

    The induction motor is designed with electromagnets situated around the sides of the rotor coil. The main idea is that you input AC current into the electromagnets to drive the induction process (b). With permanent magnets this would be impossible; one cannot change the field unless he/she...

    hot water?

    The short answer is no, not in wentworth nor manning last time I checked. Methinks it's really low-demand to get a machine, and a kettle is too easy to nick off. Lobby the student reps, or go into staff lunch rooms and borrow a kettle.

    Okay, if you have a solution of sulfuric acid that is at a pH of 2 and you add that, then the water solution will never go below 2 (you're adding an equivalent amount of water). Pure sulfuric acid has a theoretical pH below -1.. keep adding this and it'll go closer to that value. (Yeah, the...

    PHYSICS y have you gotten this way?

    Just to throw somethings in: As for prospects in Physics, there are many, many ways you don't learn about until you actually get in. Several fields of physics take big step into the 'engineering' areas (from a theoretical side) like developing new generations of optical fibers, and medical...

    Text types - plain or polite?

    You should always choose one and stick with it in a sentence; there's serious danger if you mix desu and masu with missing particles. IMO the HSC markers won't mind if you use either form in grey areas. I've looked at Jap newspapers/mags and they are usually in plain form (prob. to save a...

    How are transuranic elements produced?

    The main technique today for creating these elements is to fuse together two smaller nuclei (of certain sizes, take carbon-12 for example). To be more detailed, you accelerate ions of the two particular isotopes at each other in those cyclotrons, etc. and hope that the extra kinetic energy in a...
