Has anyone experienced put downs about their results? How have you coped with these?
I have experienced put downs from my family who tell me that I will never do as well as my cousins, that I'm lazy, will never go university and will be a failure. :jedi:

Hi everyone.
I have a cousin in Year 8 this year and he is planning to attend a selective school in Year 9. His family does not know which schools he should apply for. He attends a school ranked around 310th in 2008 and 280th in 2007. (I think so)

OMG this is so embarrassing. Anyways, I seem to be struggling with two parabola questions:
1) the tangent at P(2ap,ap^2) on the parabola x^2=4ay cuts the y axis at T. M is a point on PT that divides PT internally in the ratio 2:1. Show that the cartesian equation of the locus of M is a parabola...
I dunno if this is the right forum for Maths problems.. but anyway. I have a simple Maths question that I need help in.
The points P (2ap,ap^2), Q(2aq, aq^2) and T (2at, at^2) are points on the parabola x^2 = 4ay. Find the relation between p,q and t if the chord PQ is perpendicular to the...
I have heard various rumours that there is going to be a strike on the first two days of school (2009). These rumours seem to be confirmed here: http://www.solidarity.net.au/web/nsw-teachers-plan-48-hour-strike-in-january-09/ :D
