2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Re: 2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Beazley? Meh, even if labor is winning this poll, it doesn't mean that thats the general thoughts of australians. Might be an inaccurate sample space, but then again it could be more accurate than you think. After all, johny H has been...

    poly beta-hydroxybutanoate(biopolymer)

What does the beta mean in poly beta hydroxybutanoate? I thought it was either Polyhydroxybutanoate or Polyhydroxybutyrate( same thing, different names) Is the beta there for any reason? Also, there is another thread about PHB somewhere here, its got a lot of good info on it.

    Zeolites

A Zeolite is a catalyst used for cracking alkanes, and they are generally crystalline aluminosilicates( compounds of aluminium, silicon and oxygen, with some other extra metal ions attached). Generally Aluminosilicates have no defined shape, but the zeolites have a very ordered shape, giving...

what are some environmental impacts of the lechanche/dry cell?

Well, thats if you use a KOH electrolyte, most dry cells use Ammonium Chloride Electrolytes, which isn't harmful. KOh is used more commonly in alkaline and button cells.

    Batteries

Yeh, they both look exactly the same, just some small differences: Dry Cell Anode Reaction: Zn(s) --> Zn^(2+) + 2e^(-) (Zinc casing is Anode) Alkaline Anode Reaction: Zn + 2OH^(-) --> Zn(OH)2 + 2e^(-) (Powdered Zinc around the central Steel/brass electrode form the anode) Dry Cell Cathode...

    Stopsign's Chemistry Marathon (2006)

Arrhenius said in 1884 that acids produced hydrogen ions when dissolved in water and bases produced hydroxide ions when dissolved in water. This was a rather narrow definition and excluded basic metallic oxides, didn't recognise the role of the solvent ionising the acid/base as a chemical...

    Help remembering Reactivity Series

Yeh, i know it seems lame, but the valencie sheet given in the exam isnt completely accurate, so i thought i'd give a hand to those who cant remember it: I made up some random "words" in the order of the reactivity series, to make it easier to remember: KNaLi (Gnarly?) BaCa (Japanese= Baka=...

Mathematics - General thoughts on the exam

Hmm... question 9 & 10 weren't very nice, but i think i'll go ok on the rest. Lost at least 20 marks on those so maximum of 82 but 75 or more should be ok. I sorta got 10 but it was excedingly weird...
