lol sorry for asking this question for the 10 billionth time i've never got a straight forward answer

for example:
A goes to a school say ranked 100th with 100 ppl
B goes to a school say ranked 10th with 100ppl
now if A comes 5th in his school for every subject,
and B comes 5th in his school for every subject,
will B get a higher UAI assuming they get the exact same result in all their tests and externals and they both do the exact same subjects?? or will they both get the exact same UAI??

thx for your answers:)

yes b will get higher internal marks most likely, and thus get a higher uai

Your school rank merely indicated the ability of your cohort comparitive to other schools.

so how does B get higher internal marks if they got the exact same percentage?

For the 10 billionth time, NO.

If two schools performed the same in terms of internals and externals, then their rankings will be the same. So your analogy does not make sense.

The UAI will be determined by the marks of As and Bs cohort. Depending on the people in the grade, B will on the balance of probability, have a higher chance of getting a higher UAI.

This is because his INTERNAL will be the 5th ranked mark of the external of his school (and since his cohort seems to be of a higher ability, he'll probably get a higher internal) and hence, probably a higher total mark.

I'm near certain you'll ask for clarification.
Your internal mark = mark of x rank of grade (in this case 5th)

So here goes:

As external mark for maths - 5th, 95%
A's internal mark in grade for math - score of the 5th ranked mark. we'll just say it's 80% (since supposedly dumber cohort, therefore lower overall marks)

Bs rank for maths - 5th, 95%
B's internal mark in grade for math - score of the 5th ranked mark. we'll just say it's 90% (since supposedly smarter cohort, therefore higher overall marks)

Therefore, B would have a higher average ie 92.5% compared to As 87.5%

Get this: the internal mark depends on the smartness of the grade. Except for the best and worst person.

Sorry but that is wrong. Essentially only the top and bottom marks are dealt like that. Everyone in between is allocated more on the difference in marks.

eg 1st: 99% (20 tied)
21st: 98%

Do you seriously think the 21st (2nd) ranked person deserves the 21st highest external mark to be their internal mark? Obviously not.

Your analogy does not relate to the topic of "do schools count" as the guy that got 5th in everything at the top 10 school would most likely come first at the top 100 school and should get the same uai. However, if you got the guy that came 5th in everything at the top 100 school to go to the top 10 school they'd most likely come somewhere in the middle and should get the same uai as well. Schools do not DIRECTLY effect the students uai.

Right, my apologies. Crap, and I still managed to explain it wrong.
Either way, it affects your internal in an incredibly twisted way
