I think it was a typo....

Anywayz I'll be looking at my UAI before I look at my results. I don't want to spend a day of torture trying to guess my UAI. So alas, when everyone is getting their results on the 18th, I will be trying to opccupy myself some other way to wait till the 19th.

And Im not telling my friends or anyone else my UAI or results.

So the HSC results we recieve on the 18th or whatever havn't undergone the good/bad scaling that that subject gets applied to it? But the results used to determine the UAI HAVE undergone this scaling?
Then how is the scaling determined for the HSC results we get on the 18th, if the scaling your mark undergoes by the particular subject only happens for the UAI?
aaaaahhhhhh????!
As far as I know, the results that you got on 18th are just your exam results + moderated assessment mark. UAI is calculated differently (by UAC)

From what I have gathered, UAI is based on another 'scaled' mark of your alligned marks. therefore, even if you did well in let's say Community studies and you got over 90% moderated assessment mark. BUT the final UAC scaled mark would never be known and you might get scale down to 80 for the aggregation of UAI.

that's why it's kinda unpredictable! because you never know what your final 'scaled' mark is and how that's gonna affect your UAI

No. Alligned marks are actually scaled marks. just that for the calculation of UAI, there's another set of 'scaled' marks

I think. it's really really confusing

The purpose of UAC scaling marks is so that all marks are equal. For example, it is a lot easier to get a mark of 90 in food tech than it is in physics. So whereas phyics will keep that mark of 90 (cos you UAC considers it hard to get that mark compared with other subjects) food tech will get scaled down to a mark that UAC think reflects the relative difference between attaining 90 in food and 90 in physics.

Is it UAC who determine and use the scaled mean of courses, ie as presented on http://www.boredofstudies.org/scaledmeans.php, or is it BOS?
ie IPT at a scaled mean of 23.3/50 is likely to scale down unless you perform well

If it's just the UAC that uses this scaled mean, then what the hell does BOS base THEIR scaling on?

I'll prob be on the net at 6am or watever time the results come out, but I'm afraid there will be too much traffic on the site and it will clog up and I won't be able to log in. What time do the SMS results come out? Waiting for my UAI will be scarier than waiting for HSC results.

I'm not going back to school that day but there is a breakfast BBQ organised for us on December 19...I'll only go if I have time to check my UAI beforehand....arrghh

I can't wait till sign out day!! Monday 17 November where I get to give back all my textbooks and shit. Thats gonna be soooo good but not as good as burning all my notes!! :D:D:D:D

i dont think scaling is based on course difficulty, rather the quality of course candidature....

anyway yeah, i can see myself compulsively pressing 'refresh' from 4am onwards

I've always thought that no matter what happens, school always gets your exam results, but not UAI.

I guess that's true! --> a nosy way! LOL
