Hey all! Only two months to go!! I really screwed up trials and many of my assessments throughout this year. I've been procrastinating all year and this year has defs been the laziest out of my entire 13 years of schooling.... I have EXTERNALS though so I'm not losing hope!!!! What are your study plans from now until then? I'm trying to get through completely everything and not be learning anything new from now till the term ends, then it'll just be reviewing and past paper after past paper during the one month break before hsc. I'm going to the library opening to closing (8am-10pm) every second day in the holidays and on the days I'm not, I will work as much as I would at lib at home. It's going to be a super duper intense 2months for me!!!!!! What are your plans looking like?

Omg... 2 months?! D:
My exact same reaction lol. I'm scared though :frown2:

And yeah, will probably do a past paper a day in conjunction with fine revision. Will lock myself up in the library after school every day too.

OMFGGG 2 months?! It has gone so quick! I still remember looking when it was 150 day o_O
My plan is to get these last assessments done during the weekdays and light study on weekends for the next 3 weeks then afterwards intense study everyday for 4-6 hours at home and library..with a mix of revising contents, writing up draft essays and reports and past/ practice papers till the exams!

Despite hating school right now, I'm definitely not ready to be out of it aha

Year 12 subjects (2012): Advanced English, General Maths, Ancient, Business, Economics
ATAR AIM: 80+ (as of lately its been in the 90s) but I doubt it with the results I been getting :$

if you study 8-10 every day for 2 months and don't get a 99.95 atar, you are, without a doubt, the most brain dead person I have met

wot i am saying is you have to be realistic, if it takes you that much time to cover not much content, then you really need to re-assess your strat. HSC is just the beginning, and as you get older, your time avaliable will decrease.

I will share my HSC exp.

I didn't study that much during the year and did wing a few things, but pulled my weight and made sure i was at least up to date (so I had my notes done). Then I just went over them a bit, did a few qs and chilled. I spent a fair amount of time in the library with friends, but most of the time was mucking about, I dare say. It wasn't bad but. You really need to relax and manage stress during these times. I honestly think socialising, while it might not have led to the highest atar possible, helped me develop quite a bit as a person and helped me stay sane during a pretty hard time.

Good point you have there! Its true, in my extension two maths class there's a girl who is involved in a hell lot of co curricular activities with the school, so she needs to stay back at school few times a week got dance rehearsals or netball training but nevertheless she's still rank first in 4u... As opposed to the rest of us who lock ourselves in the library during the holidays. So yes, I definitely agree with you there. Having a balanced lifestyle will not only keep your stress levels down but it will force you to know how to manage your time properly and you will also be able to have a more memorable HSC year. HOWEVER, this is the last two months of HSC, it can make a world of a difference to your ATAR if you use it properly. When I say library from 8-10 it really does not imply that I will be studying for that many hours straight, ofc with breaks in between and I have alternating study buddies. I have realllllly screwed up internals.. I need to study hard and smart these remaining two months so I can complete the year with no regrets. It's just that I feel while these other people who have been consistent with their study throughout the year can relax more and just revise, i on the other hand am going to be learning new things and memorising new things. So I am feeling the pressure to push myself more.

What if you run out of past papers to do?
You won't. You only run out of past papers when you get 100% on every single one.

Don't spend every day studying 10 hours or whatever, it's not worth it and as khorne said if it takes you that long to take in a little bit of content then you're doing it wrong. Have a rest day every now and then, have some time to spend with mates, it'll benefit you tremendously.

What if you get like 95 for all your past papers, and the rest was only silly mistakes? What do I do now?

And I don't do 10 hours a day... wtf are you on. who does that?

Note the silly mistakes down as you make them and fix them.

You have some arrogance you need to get rid of. Confidence is good, arrogance isn't.

The 10 hours was a blanket statement to the thread. But regarding marks, gets rid of those silly mistakes. Find ways to not make silly mistakes.

Sometimes you need an ego but. I've learnt that the HSC is a mindgame. During the half yearlies I was so unconfident that I didn't do as well as I could have. During trials however, I blushed but I was cocky and that got me over the line.

Aren't you that guy who accelerated heaps of subs?

Cockiness is not the only way to find confidence.
