I have no qualms with united winning that game, as said earlier, good teams win bad games. My point was if that kid had scored at any other club, their wouldnt have been all this media stuff about him.

I bet if you went onto the man utd shop you can probably already memorabilia for that game.

Yeah the kid scored the deciding goal in a big game, so of course the media are going to cream their pants. Moments like that are a commentator's dream, and it makes good headlines for the back pages. And I suppose this is all because he scored for Manchester United? Well what can we do, we can't control everything, and it's not our fault that everyone wants a piece of us.

the reason why the media and commentators got so excited is because there could have been so many other proven match winners who could have buried that goal - they all tried and failed - instead it was a 17 yr old on his debut. simple.

They get excited because without blowing these things out of proportion, papers don't get sold, pay tv subscriptions don't get renewed, season tickets dwindle, etc, etc, etc. It is in the media's interest to hype up seemingly trivial events. The Macheda goal is a great story, particularly if it is the difference between winning and losing a title.

Just saw a headline from Lazio claiming Man Utd paid something like 2.8 million to marcheda or whatever his name is parents to lure him away from lazio's academy or something.

Extremely dodgy if true, wouldn't be surprised though, man utd have been stealing young players from foreign academies for years.
